So I'm thumbing through the new "Silver Sword" and I notice that in the appendix under "Message Of The Bible" that it says, "ABOUT 1914 Jesus hurls the serpent Satan to the earth...." I can't remeber ever hearing the word "about" and 1914 placed together before in regards to this event. Are there any JWapologists, or anyone else for that matter, who have an explanation for this?

1914 has now become a guestimate of what the WTS claim they had evidence of

No problem for the Watchtower to say "about 1914". You can make up bullshit JW doctrine as you go along.
How about this.....
Satan & his demons cast out of heaven right on time in 1914 based on the WT chronology starting in 607 BCE.
However, the speed of their being cast down bent the fabric of space & time, and they actually went back in time and hit the earth as the 1908 Tungusta event in Siberia.
Satan & his demons were then able to stir up WWI, the Russian communist revolution, and then the rise of Adolph Hitler in the early 1930's. The Watchtower can then say that this portion of the the prophetic chronology is support by a fall of Jerusalem based on the secular chronology starting in 587 BCE.
The Watchtower can then just say the "last days" and start of "the generation" began with WWII and not WWI. WWII was a double witness that "the last days" had started.
This crap could have been more acceptable to JW's, than the "over-lapping" generation nonsense.
I recently asked an elder about this.
He said, "The war in heaven started in 1914 definitively. But how long did it take for Satan to be ousted? We don't know. It may have happened late 1914 or early 1915. So saying "about 1914" would accurately describe Satans being cast out, not when the Kingdom started ruling."
But that's just one crazy speculation which is combined with about 100 other crazy speculations that ultimately form the JW doctrine!
Heck, since Satan is such a mighty foe that it took Jesus a couple years to get rid of him maybe since he's waged an attack on Heaven and broke back in. All those angels Rutherford was seeing in the 30's were actually demons. Then Jesus threw Satan back out again in the 40's leading to WWII. And they realizedwhat was going on so they stopped listening to them. Then Satan broke back in in the 50's. They wared a little more which was what caused Vietnam. Then Satan was really pissed, so he created LSD and the hippies, and the rest is history. Makes perfect sense to me....

The WTS teaches that the battle continued on for some years starting in 1914 and ending approximately in 1918.
