  A classic case of Stockholm Sydrome is Party Hearst. She was kidnapped by a radical group, The Symbionese Liberation Army. She was kept in a dark closet for weeks, eventually she joined them, held up a bank and hid out with them for years. She eventually left and was sent to prison for her part in the bank robbery. It is similar to cult mind control, you are isolated and completely dependent in your group for food and social interaction. Eventually you lose your own personality and take on the personality, goals and wants of the group.

  I do think the experience of being a JW is similar, though not as extreme. The dubs require that you isolate yourself from outside influences, you are expected to subordinate your interests and desires for that of the group. Your time is managed.
