Forget the literal part of the story, that humans are only 5774 years old, or the other quirky aspects to the Genesis story. Rosh Hashanah is a reminder that all humans are equal by having a common ancestor (even if you think its Lucy). We are all one family. And that should set the stage for everything that follows. Basic equality, essential dignity, and infinite value, learning to forgive and take personal responsibility for our actions.

Rosh Hashanah is not about being polyanish to life today, it is not asking us to group hug and sing Kumbaya together it is simply saying this is who we are let us progress and make tomorrow a better world.

    Happy Rosh Hashanah

You stated that very eloquently, Designs. Happy Day to you too. Just Lois

    How about L.U.C.A even?

That aside some good reminders in your post!

I just love Rosh Hashanah ! When I hear the sound of that horn I think "Shofar sho good !".

I forget Designs , are you of the Jewish Faith ? if so, please forgive my little pun above, I just can't resist.

I think you make a good point, it seems to me that the jewish festivals, along with the jewish Faith, have become relevant to us today, they are rooted in the past yes, but they are not stuck in the past.

My common ancestor was LUCA, Lucy is far to posh to be an ancestor of mine.
