Dear jhine, I am pleased to hear of your pleasant experience in a CofE church, and I am sure yours is not atypical. Mrs Phizzy and I attended a couple of services, one a wedding, at an independent church, the building they met in was an old Cof E church. The Pastor/Preacher or whatever he was called was a lovely guy, a true christian I would say, and was full of enthusiasm for his faith.

He would have loved questions and respected doubt I am sure.

What I menat in my comment above was that even lovely guys such as Eric, the Pastor I just spoke of, when given children to instruct wish to impose belief in God etc, no doubt out of good motive, but doing so in a way that does not foster the idea of choice in the child.

Whereas if the same guy was teaching Politics, for example, he would not impose his political beliefs upon the child, at least, not in the same overt way.

There is teaching and there is indoctrination.
