Update on my mom. She has still not went back to the KH. She just got her MI drivers license. My sister took her out and she bought all new living room furniture. A few weeks ago she went for a day at the Toleto OH zoo. She is just too tired to go to the meeting. lol I wonder,Sherry is this part of her Dementia? Is the change in her brain making her not want to be a JW ? Maybe she is just stumbled .When she found out it was not the loving ORG. she was told over and over it was, she just gave up ? Even I was shocked by the way they treated her, can you imagine how she felt? My poor mom, if only she was a Catholic things may have went better or her............lol

This brings back a childhood memory.

There was an old couple of the "anointed" in my KH where I first got brainwashed. They had been in the Watchtower since WW1 days and were loved by everybody. They were the very epitome of faithful JWs, complete with stories about god living on the Pleiades and other Rutherfordesque ramblings.

He died first and the wife later became house-bound. I remember my parents saying that she had become a very outspoken critic of the organisation to everybody who visited. It was put down to alzheimers but I wonder if it is that simple? Could it be that alzheimers disabled the filters and allow her true feelings to be revealed?

So far she has not said anything bad about the JW's. She just does not talk about ANY JW stuff at all. It's like when she left FL she left being a JW.

She is just not interested in it any more . Who knows what the future will bring. I remember reading a post about a mom that was in a nursing home, she forgot she was ever a JW and was having so much fun at a birthday party.

The whole thing is very strange because I don't know if it's a brain thing, a stumbled by the way she was treated, or some of both ????

Sherry, I think whenever the bonds of forced association, meeting attendance and studying are removed, the healing begins. I had a daughter who was off work for many weeks and could not go to the meetings or service. Her personality actually went through a healing and she became the wonderful person I remembered. That is, until she got back on the jw wagon, and now I only see a few glimpses of the real "her".

Don't worry about your mom's dementia, while it may slowly advance, her removal from the borg will heal her brain to an extent. (I'n not dismissing the dementia, I had a parent with alzheimer's for 17 years so I "get" it.)

Wish Memphis wasn't so far away! We'd hang out! (((hugs)))

Mom's doing pretty well but it was a ruff winter up in MI. To icey for her to go out much. That's one reason I wanted her to stay in FL for as long as possible. She has been back in Michigan now for a year and not once has she been to the kingdom hall.

I hope my sis and her will come to see me soon as I want us all to go to GRACELAND yeahhhhh. My mom still likes to have fun. Last week she went downtown for a nice dinner with family. My sister had a free room at the Motor City Casino with a jacuzzi....mom loved it !

Her Birthday was in Feb. so my sister had cake and icecream ( no candles but maybe next year lol )

    cultBgone, I wish too..........
