They are saying history still repeats itself and the "naboth" drama still has its modern counterparts. they tie it in with several modern situations, but of course not the real estate grab, power abuse we see around us.

If you read the article VERY carefully. THEY tell you how you will know when a narrative/parable is MORE than just a moral or practical lesson. Did you notice that? The special article ( not the Study ) about types and anti-types said that it is impossible for humans to know which is which! So How will dubs know???

The hint is in a footnote about "limited minds." Who can tell us when a parable is also a prophecy?? How can "JEHOVAH" tell us these things? If only there was a "channel of truth." If only "JEHOVAH" could tell us....

Also, if our minds are limited and we need simple and clarified teachings, which are the hallmark of divine wisdom, then WTF has been taught for decades!!!' Has "JEHOVAH" changed or were past teachings lacking divine wisdom and approval??

Did anyone catch all the spin and loaded language?? Seriously, Dubs are some of the most ignorant sheeple on the planet.

Shame on you GB! SHAME ON YOU. You're gonna reap it.

    Excellent comment DD!

Either Jehovah got it wrong, or the GB is not guided by Jehovah...... They can't have it any other way!!

I'm sure someone must have mentioned this .....

Isn't the faithful and discreet slave an anti type?

During that study this previous Sunday, only two people in our "stiff necked" congregation provided answers to the questions. The rest of the congregation, being older, stubborn and protesting silently, refused to raise their hands. The elder conducting the study from the platform quickly skimmed through it. We did not consider that special article on pages 17, 18. Not everyone in the Organization is swallowing this spoiled alphabet soup as easily as some of the others.

One of the circuit overseers years ago referred to our congregation as being a "stiff necked people" because they are so stubborn and slow to accept any change.

CloseTheDoor, that's interesting. I've been wondering what some of the older JWs think of all the changes in JWdom. How do the older, "stiff necked" ones in your congregation feel about the new, rebranded, dumbed-down, shallow, commercialized, more mainstream JWdom? For example, how do they feel about the broadcasts, the Caleb and Sophia videos, the website, the music videos, etc.?

I find it heartening to hear the WTBTS in their round-about way admitting to having been wrong. Frankly what could they say? They have never got anything right in all one hundred and thirty six years of their Adventist existence. They can’t even apologise unconditionally.

Type and anti type is almost too intellectual for the desired breed of obedient zombie which the org now demands. In Russell’s day people understood biblical imagery as being prophetic. Back then for many, the Bible was the bread and butter of daily life, today it is mainly ignored.

Nevertheless the aim of the org is to continue to rake in the family inheritances and build their property portfolio to appear financially viable. After all there is no glory for the governing body members to be leading a bankrupt cult. So the first principle of the JWorg is money first and doctrine second.

I genuinely think that ex-JW (apostate) argument is filtering in to the governance of the WTBTS. They hear the criticisms from the disgruntled flock and the departees. Type and anti-type has had its day. They are equating simplicity with “true worship”. They like the sound of this, it is a new selling point in cult theology but by overturning their historical doctrines they ignore that they have nothing which they can point to which could show the leadership as being appointed specially by God. Why listen to them, they are just another crazy doomsday cult?

Magnum, most of the older ones don't appreciate the watered down, dumbed down articles. Many have commented privately that it feels as if the Org. is talking down to them, or as 2 year olds. There's a difference between being humble/child like and being severely mentally challenged. We don't like being treated as the latter by the Org. The cartoons are just too freaky. Every thing now seems like everyone else's religion. Nothing "unique". Some have said the music videos are weird and too worldly. Many had to "unexpectedly" leave during the money grab video.

Island Man Quote me the phrase in this week's Watchtower study where they clearly admit that their type-antitype teachings were false.

-- w97 9/1 p. 13 Beware of False Teachers! "There will also be false teachers among you."—2 PETER 2:1.

"Wisely, we take note of how false teachers introduce their corrupt thinking. Peter first says that they do it quietly, or in an unobtrusive, subtle way."
