Do the WTS actually destroy all of your records if requested?

Hello, sorry for the multiple posts, but this has also been a question of mine to ask.

Does the WTS actually destroy your files if you request them to after you get DF'd? I honestly do not believe so, yet I feel as if you cannot call them on their BS if you do. I mean, if you get your files destroyed and if you "go back to your vomit" per se, would that require another baptism? Or would they magically have your publisher's card conveniently between the mush of their Shepard's book and porn magazines (you know, just below the pith of their own egotism)? If I do DA or get DF'd, I am kind of naturally paranoid, so I want my stuff destroyed. Everything. Not a trace.

They never destroy your records. They claim after you get reinstated they destroy your files. Never.

The original Kingdom Hall has a record as well as the other KH. Bethel has a record.

Bethel will never get rid of them. They probably have it computerized.

Lot of Luck on that one. LOL been there wished for that one. It just puts dfd ones in a panic part of the plan to make us miserable.

Oh well 20 years later and I still care but there is nothing I can do about it. Okay 34 years later.

If they have them computerized, then one could hypothetically hack into the system and get them. We can play a game of Ocean's Eleven: JW STRUGGLE.

Hi Thoughtless. Are you in the UK? if so you can send them a notice under S.10 of the data protection act asking them to delete your records on the grounds it is causing damageor distress. You might not even have t o do that as religious information is classed as sensitive personal data and the only legal grounds they would have is your explicit permission (since you're no longer a member and have no regular conact with them.

The Uk act is based on EU law so other european countries should have similar arrangements.

Outside of the EU i cant help you.

    Best wishes

Shiz. I live in the US. Welp, I am screwed. Perhaps I could fake my death, or get into Bethel, and destroy my files. I really wish a former Bethelite could actually affirm this or something. I know you can request to have your files destroyed, but I am sure Theocratic Warfare could come into play.

Why ask a bethelite. I know that for facts considering I tried to get reinstated for over 20 years. They clamied at one time they lost my files to make up a bogus original elders. Probably under some old mans bed!

I asked many elders about the hidden vault inthat one kingdom hall, they just said what vault.Made up.

There are specific instructions that the written files of the Judicial Committee concerning a matter of DFing are to be collected by the JC Chairman, placed in sealed envelope with only individual name on the outside and date and it is to be maintained in the Cong Confidential Files indefinitely if the person is not reinstated. Supposedly they are destroyed after reinstatement, after all restrictions are lifted, and after publisher is in good standing for 3 or 5 years (don't recall specifically). However, most Cong Secretarys are too lazy or stupid or apathetic to bother.

You can "request" anything. Don't expect to get the answer you want to hear.

I have to agree with DOC on this one. Bethel files are pretty copious. Over the years, I have seen people move from congregation to congregation even outside their own country in an attempt to escape their past only to have the "file" pop up when they are recommended for appointment in some new congregation. That little "red line" that crosses out their name on the recommendation list or that little "red" check next to it typically means that the "file" caught up to them.
