Will Familiarity Breed Contempt For The Governing Body At Bethel?

In the past, one had to be a Bethelite for a 'long' time. Seems to present, one had to be at least a DO for many years.

Steve Lett was a Brooklyn Bethelite (in late 60s- early '70) but left Bethel, later going on to circuit work, then district work? Don't know if any served in some foreign country Bethel?

    Grumble,

And don't forget Guy Pierce, one of the most loathed COs of all time.

I'm wondering if the different congregations where these guys on the GB served before they became GBs will have a lot of people doubting their appointments to such a position?

What makes them popular or unpopular? Policies? Attitudes? How do GB members treat the rank and file? Do they tend to be arrogant or authoritative in any way? And do they go out and go door to door with the peons?

Have there been any popular members?

Also, what do they pull down per year?

Raymond Franz was disfellowshiped and has been hailed by many disfellowshiped Witnesses; however, the Wikipedia article indicated that Franz was largely responsible for the 1975 debacle. Did he ever renounce the religion itself, or did he maintain his belief in it? The GB apparently keeps a tight grip on the JW doctrine and doesn't tolerate any dissension.
