I read an article this morning on how China is quickly reaching even footing with the United States in all aspects; military, economic etc. etc. The article continued saying how it was imperative that the United States recognize that it would be forced to behave accordingly or risk ddestabilizing the world. Another interesting statement was made that sooner rather than later the U.S. would become the 2nd largest economy falling behind China. This got me thinking on what the WT believes to be the current truth; that the Anglosaxon world power of Great Britain and U.S. would be the last great world power before Great Tribulation would commence? This has been taught since I was a child, but as it stands now it must be becoming very clear this is not the case and the WT finds themselves in another dilemma of failed prophecy. I am just curious to see how they plan on sweeping this one under the rug being that this is happening very quickly and seems inevitable. If this were to happen they would be forced to retract another fundamental belief and after all if the changes as of late I am hoping that more will begin to awaken and see the that these men are not infallible oracles of god, but simply another religion that trumps itself above all others.

I am not so much worried about how the GB will react as how will the tea baggers react. They have been saying USA is the undisputed #1 in the world. Well now it isn't (really wasn't since 2007-8) so there.

I thought about that very thing recently. For now they would probably spin it and say China: "Yes, China has surpassed the USA economically, but not militarily or with regards to human rights issues. Kind of like the nonesense 'New Understanding' crap about opposing ideologies and close election results being represented by the iron and clay.

They will say it's not a clear marker and that the worlds' view is twisted and incorrect.

Freddy F's view of history (and, of course some other christian groups also) is not very clear. Nebuchnezzzar's dream image usually has an interpretation that Persia is succeeded by the Greeks (Alex the G etc) who break up into smaller groups. But in fact, Persia revived under the Parthians and Sasanians. THe mighty Roman Empire could never defeat Sasanian Iran. And Sasanian Iran had influence on China and even more influence on India.

Sasanian Iran stayed in existence until Islam, whom Yahweh also seems to have known nothing about.

But maybe the problem was that Yahweh hadn't learnt about that at the school he went to.

Its only a matter of time before the USA is replaced by another power , whether it be china or any other country. That is just a fact of history ,sooner or later, one power replaces another. That is a fact of history.

possibly china will become the next king of the north , giving witnesses a new emphasis on the time of the end , dangling the carrot for a few more years according to WT theology

And the brain dead gullible will lap it up once more putting their faith in human wisdom that has failed them so many times in the past and will continue to do so in the future .

How many times does an intelligent person need to be conned before they wake up ? that they have been conned ?

Pah, they are clueless, just making it up as they go along. They botched up the king of the north and have been in a vacuum on that one since the collapse of the USSR. Presumptous prats. No doubt if China became dominant in years to come or joined up with the USSR to oppose western liberal democracy some how in some god knows what dystopian future, then the Botchtower Bullshit and Crap Society would jump straight in and say its those two. They're just winging it and always have.

Don't even bother speculating on their bullshit. It's like trying to second-guess when and where your next fart will come.

At the district convention a few years ago in their typical "end-mongering", they said that the USA WILL BE the world power when Armageddon come.

Lol, their only way out of that one will be that the Beast that was, but is not, yet will be again wasn't actually the UNited Nations, but rather the United States, hehe.

? Since millions of persons in China and other places have never heard the Kingdom message, will these people be preserved through the destruction of Babylon the Great and the war of Armageddon, or perhaps be resurrected later?—H.S., U.S.A.

It is important to understand what the Bible says about the destruction to come at the end of this system of things. In his illustration of the sheep and the goats Jesus indicated that a separating work would be done “when the Son of man arrives in his glory,” and that persons would be classed as either “sheep” or “goats.” (Matt. 25:31-46) In part, the basis for the separation would be the reaction of people to the preaching of the good news of the established kingdom. That preaching work is now being done by Jehovah’s witnesses. Jesus explained that those on earth who favorably responded to that message and treated kindly its bearers would be classed as “sheep” and would enter into “everlasting life.” The rest of mankind who did not respond favorably to the preaching work and offered no aid to those who carried the Kingdom message would be classed as “goats” and would go, not into a temporary death, but into “everlasting cutting-off” at the time when judgment is executed.

But some persons, appreciating that millions of people are to be resurrected and given an opportunity to serve God, wonder if the millions of individuals living today who apparently have never heard the Kingdom message preached will be everlastingly destroyed without ever having had a witness about God’s purposes. It is true that at present it appears that there are vast numbers of mankind who have not heard the Kingdom preaching. Also, from what the Bible says and from conditions in the world, we know that we are in the “last days.” But we do not know just how much more will be accomplished in preaching the Kingdom message before the end comes. (2 Tim. 3:1-5; Matt. 24:3-13) If at the end of the second world war someone had said that the Kingdom preaching would be carried out, by more than a million publishers, in over 190 lands, including communistic countries, many might have found that hard to believe. Yet, Jehovah has blessed his people, and that is exactly what is being accomplished. So, if it is Jehovah’s will to have this message personally carried to the millions on earth who seemingly have not yet heard it, that will be accomplished. If he chooses, he could see to it that this message is spread in ways that we cannot yet imagine. Jesus did foretell that “this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matt. 24:14) We can rest assured that God will see that the preaching work is done to his satisfaction. After that “the end” comes.

Then those who correspond with “goats,” whether in China or elsewhere, will be pronounced “cursed” and will not be permitted to survive that “end” into God’s new order of things. Since these go into symbolic “fire” (like the Devil and his angels), their punishment will be everlasting. They will never be resurrected.—Matt. 25:41-46.

“Just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; and you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”—Ps. 37:10, 11.

*** w00 1/15 p. 13 par. 17 “Keep on the Watch” ***Today, that prophecy is in the course of fulfillment on an unprecedented scale. True, untouched territories still exist, and it may be that in Jehovah’s due time, a large door leading to greater activity will open. (1 Corinthians 16:9) Nevertheless, the Bible does not state that Jehovah will wait until every individual on earth has received a personal witness. Rather, the good news must be preached to Jehovah’s satisfaction. Then the end will come.—Compare Matthew 10:23.

*** w97 8/15 p. 14 par. 11 Living for Today or for an Eternal Future? ***True, untouched territories still exist, and perhaps in Jehovah’s due time, a door of opportunity will open. (1 Corinthians 16:9) Still, Jesus’ words recorded at Matthew 10:23 are sobering: “You will by no means complete the circuit of the cities of Israel until the Son of man arrives.” While the good news will surely be announced throughout the earth, we will not in person reach all parts of the earth with the Kingdom message before Jesus “arrives” as Executioner.

*** w62 2/1 p. 96 Questions From Readers ***Accordingly, by means of his instructions to his twelve apostles Jesus was prophetically telling us today that his anointed disciples or the remnant of spiritual Israel would not complete the circuit of the entire inhabited earth with the preaching of the message of God’s established kingdom before the glorified heavenly King Jesus Christ would arrive as Jehovah’s executional officer in the battle of Armageddon. This means that Jehovah’s witnesses today, who now include hundreds of thousands of the “other sheep” or earthly companions of the spiritual remnant, will not be able to reach personally all parts of the earth with the Kingdom message before the battle of Armageddon breaks out.

    *** w10 9/15 pp. 9-10 pars. 11-12 Earnestly Seek Jehovah’s Blessing ***

For example, we do not know exactly when that day will come, but we know it is near. We believe God’s Word when it says that by giving a thorough witness in the short time that remains, we will save both ourselves and those who listen to us.—1 Tim. 4:16.

12 We recognize that the end could come at any time; Jehovah’s timing is not contingent on our giving a personal witness to every individual on the planet. (Matt. 10:23)

If they can make people still come to meetings after 'Overlapping Generations' they can do anything. This doesn't even touch the sides.

As far as China taking lead spot... I can think of a lot worse.. a whole lot worse.
