His wife has cancer. I heard she waited so long to get checked out she is not doing the best.
They are probably afraid that going to a doctor and having medical expenses that need paid for will put them at risk of losing their CO/DO position.
I've heard of the Society "negotiating" with providers for medical treatment and then even sending the CO/DO/wives to a new assignment where they received the lowest "bid".

I brought up the fact that we JWs did not have a professional clergy (so we are taught) and that Paul had a profession. I might as well have been speaking Chinese.
