zed is dead
Shoddy work in my opinion. When did they frisk him? How did they miss a knife? Why wasn't he handcuffed? And there were 2 police officers and two FBI agents interrogating him?

Sadly it's getting to a point that we may have to disarm the police here in the states. It used to not be this way but some how the police here have been allowed to become a shoot first ask questions later branch of law enforcement. Like Simon has pointed out now there is no way to find out if there were more people behind this you can't get anything out of a dead guy.
BTW before I hear whining about putting officers at risk one they were vests and have radios to call for SWAT should an idiot start shooting at them. And no guns for low level beat cops has been standard operating proceedure in the UK and other commonwealth countries for awhile with little problem; but then again they have advanced gun control laws too.

There were FBI agents, state policemen and 'other law enforcement personnel' so maybe 5 or 6 people at the very least. Shooting someone and then declaring you solved some tripple murder just seems convenient and frankly laughable. This just reeks of either incompetence or cynical manipulation.

Simon I totally agree it's only gotten worse since 9/11 which was a crime a horrific crime but a crime none the less. Now the US has used that to take the stance that you must kill first or be killed.

Looks like Todashev was involved in the unsolved triple homicide....done with knives.
This does not appear to be a case of an " out-of-control, undisciplined shooting." I'm the first to deplore police brutality, but the FBI agents acted appropriately in this case provided the information we have been given is accurate. According to the official account, they were attacked with a deadly weapon and had to defend themselves. One of the agents was hospitalized.
Now, opening fire on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in the boat in Boston, in the way it was done, is a different story. Locking down the city and putting it in a state of de facto martial law is a different story.

“Letting the perps rot forgotten in prison is the best response.”
Simon,
I think there are times when asserting lethal force is the best response and I think there are times when incarceration is the best response. Unfortunately we have no more means of finding and killing all the murderous kooks than we have of finding and incarcerating all the murderous kooks.
When faced with immediate threat to life I think responding with force is acceptable, including lethal force. In my case, if someone threatens my life or family my first response will be to escape or extract. If that’s not a viable alternative then I’ll respond with whatever force is at my disposal without regard for harm to the assailant. I don’t expect anything more or less from anyone else. It’s not always that cut and dry for law enforcement officials because of the added fiduciary duty to safeguard potential evidence if possible, like testimony of a perpetrator.
In the bigger scheme of things the answer to problems of concern in this discussion is one thing: education.
Greed, laziness, historical politics, ancestral biases, religious taboos, all of these and more are what stand in the way of people finding meaningful and fulfilling lives in a peaceful society. Sadly, resolving these hindrances to peace and happiness is not something I expect to happen anytime soon.
Regardless, among those with education to speak of, there should be a modicum of respectful discussion to be found. Otherwise education is, in the end, not an answer after all.
