Can losing faith in God be a disfellowshipping offense?

No, as it would be seen as something that could be repaired or worked on. Only if they rejected the religion "God's Organization" would it lead to the DF. If they simply said they lost faith but need help, that is what the elders are there to do in the congregation. Although, they would be labeled as possible bad association and I would bet that none of the elder kids would be playing with or being around them.

    “Emery”:

“Say a person during a shepherding visit with the elders were to simply state that they had lost their faith in God . . .”

“. . . can somebody simply say, ‘I have lost faith in Jehovah’ and walk away without being publically denounced?”

These two statements might seem similar enough, but the significant thing is if you tell them you have lost faith in “Jehovah,” as opposed to simply “God” in general. This is because subliminally “God” is usually thought of as a euphemism for the process of origin and order of the universe. However, to a Jehovah’s Witness, whenever you use the name “Jehovah,” there is always an immediate subconscious connection in his/her brain’s neural network – a connection of “Jehovah” to the organizational authority structure of the Watchtower’s Governing Body. If you could, you would always see those related neurons light up like a Christmas tree.

That might seem trivially subtle, but this connection of “Jehovah” to all that is entailed by the specific religion of the Watchtower organization is always present in the minds of its members, as the name “Jehovah” is the most integral part of their loaded language. Thus, the words “Jehovah” and “Watchtower” (i.e., Governing Body) will always be linked, kind of like two entangled particles in “quantum entanglement” (if you change the spin state of one particle like a photon or electron, its matching partner will likewise change spontaneously, even if separated at a great distance), so that whatever it is you reference to one of the terms “Jehovah” or “Watchtower” automatically adds similar weight to the other.

In other words, if you say you’ve lost faith in one, then they say you’ve lost faith in the other.

After all, the real secret to all of this, as far as the rank and file are concerned, is that “Jehovah” and “Watchtower” are in reality one in the same. And if you’re a Jehovah’s Witness, than this dual entity is your boss – disconnect with that dual entity and you are automatically considered to be quit – well, that is, to quote Donald Trump, “You’re fired!”
