I usually had a moustache and/or a soul patch. When I faded, I grew a goatie. Some dubs didn't say a word when I ran into them. Others clearly avoided me. Couldn't figure out why some overreacted, and some never said a word

I remember in the 90's when I was in a car group and a younger brother said he can't wait until he no longer has to shave in the New System. An elder who was sitting in the car got upset and corrected him and said we would always have to shave and reminded him that there are no beards in any of the pictures of the New System in the publications, meaning we we always have to shave.

I asked the elder if Abraham will be resurrected clean shaven or with a beard. He said if he's resurrected with a beard, he'll have to shave it.

Ok, are these people F'n serious?? How Dumb do these people have to be to even be saying this kind of crap??? Its just shocking to see the Level of stupidity of most JW's! Bty, the whole no beard/facial hair was introduced to the bibble students by Rutherfart to distinquish his followers from the followers of old Charlie Russel who tended to wear beards as he did.

I was never baptized but was a publisher. They made the announcement at the KH that I was "no longer a publisher" at the age of 17 in the late 90's because of my hair and beard. But since there are no scriptures about hair and beards, I called the elders and asked them why I was removed. They said it was for "loose conduct." Whatever that means.

When the elders met with me about my long hair, they said that long hair is associated with being homosexual and feminine and beards were a fad with the world.

i responded (this was the late 90's) that actually, the current style for my age group was not to have a beard, and most of the gays had short hair - I wouldn't be mistaken for a girl with my beard.

No comment from them. I'm pretty sure I knew more about the current styles at 17 than the two 60+ elders that met with me.

I remember looking at pics of Jesus and the aposatles with no facial hair in the 60's era publications. Wasn't it based on some pagen religion artifact

I brought out in a group of Dubs today, that Beards were a requirement under the mosaic law and how Dubs in some other lands can have them. Silence. One sister was saying how beards are immodest

Yet we all know that every time the WT flip flops over a doctrine all the dubs change their thinking overnight to fit in with the new rules. If the magazines suddenly start showing brothers with beards and they say that 'New Light' indicates that beards should be worn, that same sister who said beards were immodest would forget she ever thought that and would be praising the brothers in the Cong for their lovely display of facial hair

The beard thing is nothing more than an obedience test. No need for Scriptural evidence for or against. It's what the GB says. If you disagree, you're spiritually weak. If you grow a beard, you're rebelling. It's that simple.
