"Showing a group of guys of mixed races and colours working and laughing together as though it is something really unusual and remarkable"

Ambersun this is even more hilarious when you consider it's magazine is printed in New York!? Is it unusual to see mixed racial socialising in New York?

Have they ever looked outside their own world?

also, if that's a garage where's the dirty magazines?

there's a subliminal message in there, though

white guys and asians on one side of the red pillar, black guys on the other side. Hispanic-looking guys on both sides. Big red dividing pillar.

Judging from its history of overt racism, the Watchtower is one of the racist and exenophobic religious organisation I have ever known.

I don't know. I grew up in a multi-racial congregation. No problems that I ever saw. Everyone was friends, only one white elder that I remember; the rest were black or Hispanic. I think it was good for me to grow up in a multicultural congregation.

Right, so the WTS have published their amazing picture of a previously unheard of scenario - multi racial mechanics working and laughing together as equals.

Do you think we should break it to them gently that an even more shocking scenario exists? That of multi racial men and WOMEN mechanics working and laughing together as equals??!

Yes, shocking as this may seem, there are actually FEMALE car mechanics of all colours and races who are currently working alongside men as equals!!!!

So... years ago, in Grade 9, I took Auto Shop, affectionately known as "Car Shop". It was fun. I learned a lot. Got 100% on one of my exams. Our teacher rubbed my older brother's nose in it. Gained the nickname "Grease Monkey". I was only 1 of 2 girls in that otherwise male dominated class.

Mr. Barker was our teacher. He had a unique way of remembering the stages of the 4-stroke internal combustion engine.

I will recite them for you now.... ahem...

    1) Suck (Intake)

    2) Squeeze (Compression)

    3) Bang (Ignition/Power)

    4) Blow (Exhaust)

Well, the article is just as good as the cover. They quote Martin Luther King and the Secretary General of the U.N..

They repeatedly state that everyone has prejudices, even if we think we don't. It almost gives you the impression that it's normal to harbour these feelings. But if you study hard enough you will be able to overcome it. Here's a illustrative paragraph from the article page 4. I love how they Quote from the Contemporary English Bible.

If we are honest with ourselves, we have to

admit that deep down we all harbor varying degrees

of prejudice in one form or another. Even

the Bible acknowledges a very common form of

prejudice when it states: “People judge others by

what they look like.” (1 Samuel 16:7,

    Contemporary

    English Version

) Since all of us are plagued

with this human tendency—often with disastrous

consequences—is there any hope that we can

overcome or eliminate prejudice in our life? And

will we ever see a time when the whole world

    will be free of prejudice?
