What do you have to do to qualify for reinstatement? Just curious.

I DA'd so I doubt I could ever qualify for reinstatement, even if I wanted to.

I'm curious what criteria you have to meet for a JC to reinstate you.

    • Start attending the meetings.
    • Do the humble slouch and don't address anyone there.
    • Talk to an elder about your desire.
    • You'll be assigned as a study and go through an extra book or two.
    • Humbly request reinstatement in front of an elder body six months in.
    • Tell them it is because of your desire to be closer to Jehovah, nothing more.
    • Look earnest.
    • Be prepared for an initial rejection.
    • Humbly accept the rejection and further direction to display "true" humility.
    • Keep attending the meetings and doing all that you are told to do.
    • Eventually you will wear them down.

If you really, really have no choice and have to go that route, read this book:

    http://books.google.com/books/about/A_Guide_to_Reinstatement_for_Those_Disfe.html?id=e87Ud1BypIwC

It's called A Guide to Reinstatement for Those Disfellowshipped from the Watchtower Organization. It is an amazing book detailing the excruciating process told from the standpoint of the father of a young man disfellowshipped who committed suicide before he got back in!

It's a book worth reading even if you're not trying to get back in, just to see the craziness of what's involved.

Fear not. I'm a confirmed apostate. I was just curious about the humiliation factor.

I really really depends on the elder body. I've seen people attend every meeting for 3 years before they got reinstated. Another time I saw the daughter of the PO return after getting df'd 10-15 years back, and she was reinstated after 1 month of meetings.

There really doesn't seem to be any sort of standard. But then why shouldn't there be made up rules in a made up religion

    Nowadays it seems:

    (1) You must be disfellowshipped at minimum for a year.

    (2) You must attend meetings for six months straight prior to reinstatement.

    Don’t look too happy!

    And don’t look too sad!
