    Dismissing servant,

That is an excellent and concise definition of a cult - "a religion that deprives people of their freedom".

Funny/sad thing is, the JW's teach their people that they have more "real" freedom than non-believers. But they very narrowly describe the reasons for such claimed freedom. Like everything in the religion, even the way they define "freedom" more closely binds them to the organization.

The real problem with the Watchtower is their doctrine: they teach a false gospel. Their false doctrine leads them to teach that one ought to waste his or her natural talents in support of the false god that is the JWs.

Depriving their sheeple of a normal life is done by design. They are an Insidious bunch of sociopaths. They've managed to create an army of drones who blindly follow them. They keep the R & F down as much as possible so that they will be easier to manipulate in every way. Everything is only done in order to keep the Corp going. WT tries as hard as they can to keep their members from having a life in any way was one the things that used to bother me the most. So something like having a Successful business is very much frowned upon even if its done honestly and creates many jobs. These snake oil con artists are just sickening!

This is one of the biggest problems with growing up as a Witness, as it affects the greatest number of people. Other problems are more serious, but they may not occur for 90% of Witnesses. The sad thing is, young people have the greatest potential, but also the greatest potential to be misled, and if they have spent a dozen years pioneering, or wasting their time in the Watchtower's service in some other way; the opportunities they have missed may never happen again.
