Are there any Gilead or MTS graduates on this site? What helped you to see the light and leave?

One of my cousins was part of the MTS program "he was told he made a vow to Jehovah to remain single for a period of time". His vow was three years, others promised two years of "singleness after graduation of the program". They were sent to congregations needing organization help to get in line, get on the right track. The MTS graduates who shine like the Sun (Clean up messy Halls and get them back on Organization track) and remain single, those guys are the valuable ones because the Society is not dealing with a married couple CO, they can find members who are willing to house and board these guys, it's a very cheap program when the MTS graduates "keep their vow!".

wow this vow taking must be widespread. i know bethelites take a vow of poverty but this vow of singleness for a certain amount of time sounds really cult like. at the very least it makes the ones taking the vow seem above regular congregants since they were afforded the opportunity to make a vow to jehovah.

(1Ti 4:1-3) . . .However, the inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons, 2 by the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, marked in their conscience as with a branding iron; 3 forbidding to marry, commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith and accurately know the truth.
