It is great country up here, like living in a park. I'm so grateful to have moved out of SoCal, although it took me a long time to do so.

More rain tomorrow, they are making sandbags available locally. I think that a bit of over-reaction, flooding more likely in lower areas.

Down Fallbrook way there is mostly light drizzle. We had a very extended sunny season, so getting the ground watered is a good thing.

I'm so excited! It's already so much wetter than last year. I love it!

What else do they expect? A regular rainstorm hits the Northwest where it is rain forest (there are temperate rain forests here), and they whine about Rain-mageddon. Global warming! Maybe someone ought to head to the Fjordland in the Southwest part of the South Island in New Zealand, point out that it is always raining lately (which is normal), and claim the end of the world unless mankind exterminates itself. Or, go to northwest Chile, note the dry conditions (rain there is almost unheard of), and blame global warming for the drought there. You get one storm slamming into the Northeast, and they whine "Global warming". When it's actually the power company dogging getting electricity back on in Long Island, dogging maintenance, and blaming mankind for "increased storms".

Reality check: During winter, the west tends to be messy. Pacific air comes in, rises up the mountain ranges, and cools. Then the rain and snow come out, and those places get meters of snow. They also tend to get rain storms ranging from 20-50 cm of rain (and winds exceeding 160 km/h) in winter. This rain and snow presses southward, reaching southern California in winter. Due to the mountains, once the rain is wrung out, you get dry conditions on the other side. This is simple science. No wonder they are dogging science class for children--so they can be told that it's their fault.

I'm referring to this storm as the "Pineapple Express" because it's coming from the direction of Hawaii :-)

well I just read on the Weathre channel web site that we are supposed to get over 200 inches of snow at the top of Mt. Shasta over four days from yesterday through the weekend. If we get that much, it will beat all previous records in the U.S.

we need snow, OK with me.

kurtbethel -- I haven't been to Fallbrook for years. Used to go to an herb nursery somewhere near there. Hi to Southern California

Rain has started here in the San Francisco bay area, but mostly wind at this point, scared the cat though. We are supposed to get six inches overnight, and continuing through the weekend. I moved back to California two years after 10 years in Colorado, so I am just happy not to have snow, rain doesn't bother me.
