Yes they have claimed to be inspired.

1."We will also increase our joy if we prayerfully and diligently study God's spirit - inspired Word and Christian publications prepared under the spirit's guidance." Watchtower 1992 Mar 15 pp.21-22

2."The Watchtower is not the instrument of any man or set of men, nor is it published according to the whims of men. No man's opinion is expressed in The Watchtower. God feeds his own people, and surely God uses those who love and serve him according to his own will. Those who oppose The Watchtower are not capable of discerning the truth that God is giving to the children of his organization, and this is the very strongest proof that such opposers are not of God's organization." Watchtower 1931 Nov 1 p.327

3."Jehovah God has made known to his anointed ones in advance what these scriptures mean." Watchtower 1931 Jun 1 p.160

    4. "Under the guidance of his holy spirit and on the basis of his Word of truth, Jehovah provides what is needed so that all of God's people may be "fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought" and remain "stabilized in the faith." (1 Cor. 1:10; Col. 2:6, 7) Surely we are grateful for Jehovah's spiritual provisions in these last days. Thus, "the faithful and discreet slave" does not endorse any literature, meetings, or Web sites that are not produced or organized under its oversight."

Also shows MANY WTS contradictions. First they are inspired, then not, then they are, then not........only suits them when they make errors.....

mind blown - yes, the Society repeatedly uses the word "guidance" to describe the way the Spirit directs the organization, including in the preparation of the literature.

JW apologists would argue that "inspiration" and "guidance" are not the same words, but in this context I fail to see how they are substantially different in what they are implying.

For example, saying you are "guiding" someone to write something sounds just as (if not more) direct than saying you are "inspiring" them to write it.

What about those older ones who have no retirement account, put off having children, finishing high school, going to college, went preaching instead of taking a vacation, spent their childhood worrying about an unbelieving parent, grandparent or friend who was going to be destroyed any day all based on their incorrect understanding of the word generation ? What else are they misunderstanding ?

All they have to do is print a few lines in their magazine and we're all supposed to go on about our business as if it doesn't matter. Not even so much as a deep sorrowful apology...only a comparison to others from a few thousand years ago who looked ahead of Gods time table. They are the ones who gave us dates and refrences about our time, made us think the end was supposed to have happened any day in the last 30 years. We would never have been so presumptous as to have told people all over the world that we were living in the last days if they hadn't convinced us they are spirit directed and know what they were talking about.

I didn't give him the date of the article (which, I think is 1971). He's asking me for it. Says he's looking in a Reasoning book. Will the Reasoning book written in 1989 negate the 1971 article?

    What difference will this make?

not a lot different to what they have said at other times when they feel the need to justify themselves.

just a load of generalized dribble about better to be ready than not and no harm done.

NO RESPECT at all for the bullshite they published to fool the public, and to comfort the rank and file over why they are still here.

Ha Ha... what a good laugh, particularly about this statement ....

We were more concerned about obeying Jesus !

BULLSHIT ! What the WTS. was mostly concerned about is its own literature distribution $$$ and creating and

cultivating their own power and control over people.

    More BS from the BSers.

But wait ! bullshit corruption can never come from religious mined ones who said god has specifically chosen them to

dispense true bible interpretation and understanding for all mankind, in spite of the fact they are living off the proceeds of a publishing house.
