A couple I used to know, about 20 years ago, contacted me recently to see how I am. That is surprising enough, but then in the course of the conversation, after he said he and his wife are still "publishers in good standing" I said I am as atheist as you can get. His reply? "Well, you always were a thinker."
???
Does he mean he knows he isn't thinking or was this a little JW jibe at independent thinking? Or did it mean nothing at all?
Nothing at all. Just caught him off guard. It was nice of him to call.

well, I don't know that I want to talk with them again. Nice of them to call, but it stirred up unhappy memories, and anyway, I know what JW love is worth.

Man alot of blanket statements here about JW love and things like that. I know many of you have been through terrible things. I too have been through some stuff I haven't shared yet. But man, those kind of blanket statements just don't sound very good.
Of course you guys haven't talked in 20 years, so not exactly a friend to begin with I guess.

Wow, not much excitement in their neighborhood.
I guess their motto is: Dare to be average, aspire to mediocrity.
On the other hand, maybe it's his round about way of saying, "At least we haven't gotten DF'd yet!"

My goodness, if someone I hadn't seen or heard from in twenty years called I'd be able to bend their ear for weeks on end with all I've been upto in the last two decades.
But apparently that's the best the got going on, "We're still 'Publishers in good standing'".
