The GB of today sure hates Charles Taze Russell

The whole concept of the Faithful and Discreet Slave in the JW religion goes back to Charles Taze Russell and/or his followers calling him the Faithful and Wise Servant. How in the blue blazes can they say he wasn't part of the Faithful and Discreet Slave?

Quite a demotion, it must be said, from THE Faithful and Discreet Slave in the flesh to not even being a part of something that Rutherford's lowly henchmen on the Board of Directors got to be a part of!

    Funny how that worked out...

Also, recent Watchtower said CTR was "chosen" to edit the Watchtower. Like hell he was chosen, he founded the motherflipping magazine with his own money! He chose himself because he was the founder of the Watchtower Society.

Talk about dumping on a guy without which the people running the religion now would be nobodies.

If they could get away with removing him from the history of the JW's they would. He would be deemed a terrible apostate by today's WT standards.

Of course they do. They want to rid themselves of their Masonic ties with him, along with his divine pyramid theory. They'll have to remove the three photos that contain the Tetragrammaton within a triangle in the Divine Name brochure.

Here's a Watchtower quote from when Charles Taze Russell was the editor:

"Rather, like the church of Rome their influence is exerted to restrain investigation within the sectarian limits. With the implied threat of disfellowship , they urge their ministers and students not to search continually for truth, but to accept the voice of their sect as infallible." Watchtower 1887 Apr p.923 http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/disfellowship-shunning.php#history Sound familar?

It has come full circle. Now what? Who wants to take the lead? Isaiah 6:8 comes to mind.

The ingratitude! Wonder if Russell would've bothered setting up the scam, if he only knew he'd be removed from the history books a hundred years after his death (I'm thinking yes, since it served him well when he was alive)?

What the GB is doing is tantamount to removing one of the Founding Fathers (Washington or Jefferson) from Mt Rushmore, or de facto damnatio memoriae, what happened to SovietcommissarNikolai Yezhov in a picture with Stalin that was retouched after Yezhov fell from favor and was executed in 1940:

Let's hope this will be a big wake up call to the zombielike rank and file.

I wouldn't hold my breath: as NC pointed out recently, the capacity for adaptation to slow change is great, like a frog that won't notice it's being boiled alive if you slowly increase the heat...
