    tyydyy,

It's just that there needs to be a place for people to come and question everything.

Agreed, but what I think that what IW was challenging is the way questions are asked.

Deliberately offending a person by using obscene terms to attack their God and their beliefs is not questioning, it is flexing emotional muscles that have been cramped.

There are less hurtful ways of doing this than using four letter words to describe the God that people have chosen to attach their emotions to.

My, by now boring refrain is, never uses words on this board that you would not be courageous enough to use in a face-to-face discussion with another person. To do so is the height of cowardice and surely lacks any social graces.

    Kind regards - HS

    LB,

Of course it's Simon's board! I deeply appreciate the opportunity he has given me to express my thoughts!! Something my former religion never allowed me.

All I am saying is: free speech is the simplest and best way to go. IMO, the Active Topics should not include the "disagreements" forum. In this way those who choose to "war" can do so but with the handicap of having to search out the thread.

The Active Topics forum serves to fuel flame wars. If flame wars were moved to their own forum and were not highlighted on the Active Topics forum, I believe they would die out more quickly.

IW, I understand what you're saying, but re-read my post in the beginning of the thread....it says it all I think. Some people have thick skins, other's don't. That's why there are protections for the people who CAN be hurt be words. God, whether he is myth or no, can either stand on his own, or doesn't exist, which really solves the insult problem.

I quite agree with IslandWoman's last post.

    IW,

You know what? I agree with your last post. Cooooool. I agree some people love to fight. They need an outlet. Hell, sometimes I like a little verbal sparring.

IW. It boils down to RESPECT. Some have it and some don't. It's the same with 'common sense.' Some have it and some don't.

I thought that is what "Adult and Disagreements" was for?
    Flame and mayhem!!!

I think what IW is pointing out, LT, is that with the new(ish) "active topics" view, which is great btw, the various forums, such as "adult and disagreements" are mostly irrelevent.

If there could be a work around, so that flame wars go to the "adults and disagreements" forum, and stay there (in the sense that they are not brought up in active view), then they might well dissipate quicker, and, as Simon likes to say "not stumble our brothers".

Ah, I see what you mean.
I don't usually use that view, so I had missed it's relevance.
I agreee that moving threads is probably the answer.
Hiding them from "Active" would be a tidy solution.
