    Ashitaka is right, IMO.

Us humans are imperfect and judgemental. If someone wants to trash God, that's ok with me, but I wouldn't consider that person gutless nor would I take offense just because I still strongly believe in God.

In my experience, when I have spoken to JWs about any of their doctrines, their defense mechanisms kicked into high gear if I in any way bashed their beliefs or their literature. I think that it only further reinforces their views of "apostates" or "apostate literature" when we engage in name calling or God/Jehovah bashing. It really doesnt help at all.

I can't say that I have been able to convince anyone in the past 20 years to leave the WTS, however, I know for a fact that doubters far exceed the number of true believers, but it's really hard taking that first "step" towards exploring all the lies and deceit of the Watchtower society, and finding one's own way.

lol how can you differentiate Island Woman...words are words...whether they are used to glorify someone or insult someone. They mean something to someone...whether it is to the person uttering them, the person they are addressed to or to the people hearing them...ALL words have an impact.

I haven't seen insults hurled at God here. I have seen his existance questioned...lol and I believe he is the only one who can provide proof of that! There are some people who are angry at God, but I have not seen the venom you are speaking of, perhaps you would be so kind as to provide me some links....then I might better understand why you are so angry.

    PEOPLE!!!

We're not talking about words here. We're talking about emotional reactions to words!

I had the word "fuck" in a topic title about a year ago, and I thought the Englishman was going to have a stroke 'til I changed it for him.

I agree with the idea that if you have an emotional reaction to a word, then it's your problem - not mine. In taking the position that I can't use a word because YOU have a negative emotional reaction to it, is no better than the Jehovah's Witnesses having a negative emotional reaction to my personal belief - and desire to ban my expression that Jehovah, say, is nothing more than an ancient tribal god, unworthy of the majestic and loving Father, creator of the Universe of Universes. It's all about who is going to have their opinion enforced. It's a control issue.

That is, to me, who is going to control my speech; me or you?

NOTE TO GOVERNING BODY: You've been challenged to a debate, boys. Dont you have ANY balls?

    IW,

One of the main differences between offensive words hurled at humans as opposed to insults hurled at god is that the humans who are targeted by the words are REAL. They are alive... living, breathing entities who may be injured by what's said. No harm comes to figments of imagination.

Actually I think that the Governing Body of JW's and JW's themselves get the brunt of the bashing here. I think it is unfair to call x-JW's gutless god trashing wimps because you interpret most of the negative sayings as against "Jehovah" the god of the JW's when such is not the case. Its actually the way the society uses their god "Jehovah" to inflict harmful and unfair laws and regulations on their followers in his name.

OK, for any here who seem to have misunderstood the theme of this thread: this is NOT ABOUT GOD! This is about the hypocrisy and idiocy of calling someones god a filthy name while at the same time raising ourselves above such name calling!

Hey, Jehovah the God of JWs gets trashed big time here, he gets called all kinds of names, he gets his face rubbed in the gutter all the time. Now, this is somebody's God! But no matter, it is allowed!

But now if somebody calls a fellow poster a fucking jackass or something else, that is not allowed? Why?!

Jehover God is a fictional character. That's why.

"I was addressing words used as insults. THEY mean nothing. If we on this board can vilify someones God, then we also must be "man" enough to take a few insults ourselves!"

It sounds like you are just absolutely dieing to slam some body.

We expect JWs to tolerate shitty names thrown at their God, but "God forbid" we call each other those very names! This makes no sense!

Sound like the tactic they used for O.J. Simpson. But seriously, it's simply that people have egos, issues and nothing better to do, like any other place online.

*I was addressing words used as insults. THEY mean nothing*

Apparently they do otherwise we wouldn't have flame wars here on this board. I don't agree with Trashing other people or their beliefs.

People that don't beilve in God that is they're right and they want people to respect that and they should, BUT they should also respect the people that do chose to believe in God. Fair is Fair!!!!

But if we did follow these outlines we wouldn't have fighting or wars or any such thing, and who wants that????
