First there is a wall.. and then there is no wall.... and yet there is!

Is a wall a wall or is it really only bricks?

A slippery slope appears when we differentiate between the gestalt and the details. (The forest and the trees).

Question: What if there were a brick wall in front of your house and....

each day a brick got removed and replaced with...wood..instead?

The wall would "appear" to remain. However... at some point the wall will be more one thing than the other, yet--somehow, it is always a wall.

Is it always a BRICK WALL? The fact that it becomes WOOD; does it change anything? After all, "a wall" is still there.......

Now, let's start over, shall we?

Imagine the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses as builder of a wall.

Let us examine the Wall of Jehovah's Witnesses : the date of 1914.

“... .But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the
date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of
    trouble....” ------Watchtower July 15, 1894

Don't blink or you might miss this!
The foundation of Jehovah's Witness theology is right here: 1914.

The Watchtower Society wants you to keep your eye on the Wall while ignoring all the bricks!

There was great prophetic significance connected to the meaning of the date 1914.
    Such as?

The Time Is at Hand (SS-2), 1907, p. 101: “...The ‘battle of the great day of God
Almighty’ (Rev. 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow
of earth’s present rulership, is already commenced.”

These events made 1914 incredibly important because God himself would create them!

The Watchtower Reprints, July 15, 1894, p. 1677: “....We see no reason for
changing the figures — nor could we change them if we would. They are, we
believe, God’s dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the
date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble....”

The wall only exists because ofthese predicted events:

The claim for 1914 was overthrow of the world's governments, heavenly rapture for the saints and Armgeddon for all the Earth as well as the destruction of all churches as false religion.

    Stop and consider:

    Not one event happened.

None of the significant events which were to make 1914 the end transpired!

No events: no bricks= no wall.

The Watchtower Society today knows all the events fail to occur--yet, they want to keep 1914 as a date predicted in advance.

    Why?

Because a World War broke out INSTEAD OF the predicted events and something...anything...is better than nothing!

Therefore, 1914 becomes the wall and not the events (bricks) actually published in advanced.

Read the claims made in advance which would make 1914 signficant IF THEY CAME TO PASS:

Since none (not even one) event took place as described 1914 (as described) means NOTHING in context!

Simply put: no bricks = no wall

1914 for all intents and purposes is an imaginary and deliberate MYTH that Jehovah's Witnesses do not understand and never did.

It is the foundation of their religious doctrine.

A wall is only a wall BECAUSE IT IS MADE OF SOMETHING.

The Watchtower "wall" of 1914 is made of nothing (no events) predicted or transpired. It does not exist.

    Garbage in= garbage out.

First to bring up the obligatory Pink Floyd "all in all, it was all just bricks in the wall" reference.

Analogy could also be applied to blood fractions. How many bricks do you have to take away before it is no longer a wall? How finely do you have to break down blood fractions until it is no longer blood?

First to bring up the obligatory Pink Floyd "all in all, it was all just bricks in the wall" reference.

Well, I was thinking of Donovan's "First there is a mountain, then there is no mountain, then there is.." but Pink Floyd works too.

Analogy could also be applied to blood fractions. How many bricks do you have to take away before it is no longer a wall? How finely do you have to break down blood fractions until it is no longer blood?

An excellent example of a monolithic WALL without supporting bricks!

The JW strategy is so simple. Think of the myth and not the reality which would disprove it.

The generations doctrine gave the Society a lot of mileage because it was like a fuse burning toward dynamite.

It was a countdown clock and ramped up the mass hysteria pushing people into the "ark of safety" before the explosion.

The problem, of course, was it was SELF-REFUTING and had a shelf life very obvious to everybody.

Consequently, the Watchtower kept replacing the bricks in that wall one by one until---not only was there not one

of the original bricks, but, there was a see-through wall so transparent the whole doctrine amounted to nothing!

How many JW's realize that the MILLIONS NOW LIVING articles and public address were absolutely connected with the false predictions

of 1925?? It was a sensational public embarrassment. It caused the society President J.F.Rutherford to make his famous "I made an ass of myself" admission.

Yet---get this---they went right on using the same "wall" with the ever changing bricks as though nothing refuting had ever happened.

The Watchtower Religion is a continual replacement policy organization.

The TRUTH is a series of ongoing guesses, opinions, assertions and hypothesis which prove to be consistently incorrect.

This prompts the necesssity of replacing those guesses, opinions, assertions and hypotheses with more of the same. (Equally incorrect.)

The fact is surprising when you consider the poor labeling. None of the guesses are submitted to the public as guesses. None of the opinions

published in the Watchtower are identified as opinions. Assertions come across as authorized divine behests.

It is this sense of ENTITLEMENT TO ERR which really takes getting use to!

The rank and file JW is fully expected and required to swallow whole any notion, whim, madcap caprice or arbitrary dictum passed off as a

telegram of Truth from On High.

I was reminded of George Sanders forcing himself to think of a brick wall so those creepy little alien kids could not read his mind in "The Village of the Damned".

It is a bait and switch operation from the top down.

    Terry:

I think they used the same "wall" with the ever-changing bricks because it worked and because they are counting on the fact that people die and after every five years or so, many go out the back door. The new ones coming in don't know the garbage that has preceded them and they are in ignorance. This is what the religion counts on: low retention rate and new members. The problem is that in recent years there are few coming in and MANY going out the door. So, this formula that has worked so well for them in the past is useless, not to mention that time has proved the teachings wrong.

You are right that it is a continual replacement policy religion. At first I thought it was simply bait and switch but it is worse than that because the thing it once was has changed over and over again! The religion is like one big shapeshifter amoeba. Who knows what it will look like next?

When these monumental changes come out that they are talking about, I wonder what it will resemble? Stay tuned everybody.
