I'm still in...I'm a young MS still living at home with my parents. After all the hyprocisy that I've discovered in pretty much one night, I wish I could just go off-grid (to the JWs), but I don't want to tear my family apart, so I'm kind of trapped. I got into this mess by looking up the word "porneia" on the internet, because I wanted to know what gave the WT such authority to just decide (and occasionally change) what a 2000-year-old Greek word means. Then the floodgates opened, and eventually I ended up on here as a member.

It's been hard for me to gather up enough will to continue at all, but I have to sell it - I have to pretend that nothing ever happened, that I still think about the WT and the JWs the way I always have, to keep people from suspecting. I have to keep it that way until I move out.

Thanks for all being so honest,

I eventually made sure I had a new life to walk into, namely education. Leaving cost me all my friends and strained the sibling relationships. Now I could not go back at all. I am currently publishing a paper on evolution and medicine, going back having seen "behind the curtain" would drive me insane. Also I came to realise how short and precious our time is. I wasted so many years pioneering, working at bethel, building halls. I won't give them another minute of my life.

A year ago, I was frustrated to hear that elders existed here, all the while 'teaching' from the platform etc, or regular posters that still go door to door spreading what they know to be a virus. But I guess I couldn't do it, my thoughts are with you all. I promise you that life is so much easier this side of the kingdom hall fence, but for those that still have to underline that WT and listen to the drivel..... Kudos to you.

    Snare x
