    I remember that!!!

    Didn't know worldlies were approached offically ....

    I guess having grown up hearing about 'the old days' where rooming was more abundant .....never thought it was odd/weird.

    Yes I participated in that program.Not only were we canvassing for rooms but also if the housholders could put a caravan in their yards for visitors to the convention.I had my next door neighbour who was a catholic put up a family in a caravan in her yard and I think their were 4 or 5 kids involved.

    Nighmare. Strange families would arrive.....and not leave...lol!!

    After we were newly baptized, my mil told me they had done that in the late 50s or early 60s. I told her she must be thinking of a different religion, knowing full well jws would never trust "worldly" people to the point of asking to spend time in their homes. But when I asked the person I studied with, I found out it was true. I guess that was the first major shock after being baptized, finding out about that, and the hypocracy of it, with their regular attitude toward anyone non-jw.
