Maybe my favorite band as a teenager: Traffic. Traffic featured Steve Winwood, Dave Mason and Jim Capaldi. They began with very pscychodelic music around 1967ish. They developed into this kind of rock/beatnick jazz fusion with the LP John Barelycorn Must Die.

Here's a very jazzy/rock song featuring both the saxophone and flute. Nizzze.

I don't know if you'd consider the sax as heavily featured, bu it does have a dramatic effect. This is hands down my favorite Bob Seger song:

Ahh jamiebowers I love that song. I remember listening to that song in a living room in Denver, Colorado knowing that I was going to break up with my fiancee. Lots of feeling there

No, unfortunately I have not found the tune I was searching for. HOWEVER......because of my friends here on JWN, I've got a plethora of new old artists to explore, and I found out who sings, Vehicle (Ides of March)!! So even though what I was looking for hasn't been found, I gained more thatn what I expected, and this thread isn't dead yet. I expect to see some more music featuring horns. Ohhhhhh I almost forgot!!!!! The earlier posts on Earth Wind Fire, and Tower of Power caused me to inadvertently found out who sung that Groove Line song from years ago!!!! I couldn't remember that the name of the group was Heatwave for the life of me. I had their greatest hits on CD years ago, but lost it somehow, and as time went on I forgot about them and that Groove Line song. That song is ill.
