    This is pretty strange. This happened at a very popular beach in south Orange County, CA.

    This makes sense to me --

    Phosphorous in one of the rocks, perhaps covered by some hardened slime or a bit of coral (we have lots of beach rocks here with white coral on them).

    She puts the rocks in her pocket, and the coating gets scraped off. Phosphorous meets air,,, FIRE!
