Dear Cedars, I've just come back online after a truly wonderful day filled with all manner of good things provided by Thor, to find the one disappointing thing.
No word from you in respect of my very friendly challenge to Mrs Cedars to find a recipe suitable for Thor and his day. I'm sure she could rise to the occasion admirably. Surely you didn't fail to spot the challenge to Mrs Cedars, did you?
on the other hand, well done, Cedars, for finding the picture of the frost giant.

Chariklo - I have just drawn Mrs Cedars' attention to your challenge, and she has asked if you could suggest of any "Thor-worthy ingredients" to include in any potential recipe.
Since I am most vehemently against giving any praise to Thor, I shall respectfully withdraw from taking any further part in this pointless enterprise, and leave it to you and Mrs Cedars (who clearly hasn't thought this through properly) to come up with something.
I'm glad you like the picture of the frost giant. They are fast becoming an endangered species thanks to the genocide that is perpetrated by your angry and violent hammer-wielding deity!

Mrs Cedars! You are a delight! Obviously the Cedars family are part of Thor's folk, and Cedars himself is just acting the part of the spoilsport but really, ElderE is right, he's a Thor-lover par excellence!
Now, food approrpiate for Thor and his worldwide family of worshippers. I've been thinking. I have in mind: food that is the kind of thing he'd have enjoyed way back in frost-giant fighting times: food that is Northern...and possibly also Germanic, because his following extended to modern-day Germany as well as north to Norway and Iceland, and also to the British Isles. Viking lands....I've always kind of felt his home would be close to northern Norway, but the thing about Thor is, he's generous and not fussy, so no need to limit ourselves.
And also...and this is very important...food that can become enjoyable to his followers each and every Thor's Day...a regular celebration for us insidividually and collectiively when we gather...as Thor-followers would love to do...and celebrate this great god. Plus anything traditional...and...well...anything that feels right, on the whole. A wide field to choose from.
I decided to start things off with some research to see if there is any Thor-linked food, and just any ideas.
First thing...very exciting this will be for some of us, I think...there is/used to be a convivial drink called Viking Blood or VikingBlod. Sounds promising, eh? I believe key ingredients are honey/mead, plus hops, oddly enough, hibiscus. I also found mention of cranberry juice, and even, possibly, the addition of a fortifying drink like gin or vodka. Maybe keep the latter to a dash, proportionately, if it's to be drunk by the gallon....unless some of our gathering are determined to be particularly reckless!
Then, for more ordinary food, I think the field is as wide as you like. Oats, barley, fish, anything using berries, huge roasts for feasts...and why shouldn't every Thor's Day be a feast day? Basically, anything endemic to northern lands and therefore Thor.
One thing I found in Iceland and which is not as far as I know available or even makeable anywhere else is a wonderful dish called Skyr. It's not yoghurt or cream but something a little like both or a combination of both, yet not. It is utterly wonderful. We ate it regulalrly for two weeks in an unforgettable holiday in Iceland, where it is served for breakfast or for desserts, alongside fruits, especially berries, or just plain any gorgeous pudding. They add cream to it, so it is wicked as well as wonderful, but has the added bonus, according to Icelanders, of being very, very healthy and good for you!
Oh! I nearly forgot! How about a Thor's Day cake?
This could run and run, week by week, a recipe a week for as long as Mrs Cedars feels like it. Imagine how we'll be looking forward to a celebration once a week!
At this point my ideas are running low, but that could be because midnight has struck so here in the UK it has stopped being Thor'sDay. So, it's over to you, Mrs Cedars! And, of course, over to anyone else (but probably not Cedars himself while he's hanging on to that wet blanket.)

I was thinking Chariklo, and for all his hammering he needs a good filling meal. When you said he would eat Germanic food, sauerkraut came to mind, however I think many Thoritans wouldn’t appreciate it. So other Germanic food that came to mind was sausages, hog roast and potatoes and gallons of beer. All in all, nothing for hot summer days.
So I thought forget that, I will think of something that good people would like, and Thor would approve.
So here it is...
Grilled Buffalo Chicken
Choose chicken cuts of your choice, I use breast (because I don’t like wings) and wings (for those who do). Marinate it in garlic, some spices (either grill mix or ones of your choice, or fresh herbs, I personally like coriander and lemon balm), splash of vinegar (balsamic or red wine) and season to taste and leave to marinate for as long as possible. Grill the meat and when done soak it in a melted butter and hot sauce mixture (the amount will depend on the amount of chicken and how hot do you like it).
For Blue Cheese Dressing
(these are rough measurements because I never measure, I always do everything to taste)
1 ½ cup of creme fraiche
130 g blue cheese
½ cup light mayo
1-2 Tbsp of vinegar (white or red wine)
salt, pepper to taste
Worcestershire Sauce and chopped spring onion are optional
The way I make blue cheese dressing is I heat the creme fraiche in the pan along with blue cheese to the boiling point, to penetrate the blue cheese through the creme fraiche, than leave to cool. When cooled, add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
On the side we could have mixed salad (lettuce, baby spinach, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes) and spicy potato wedges. Instead of Viking Blood we could have a nice larger or wine if you prefer.
bon appétit
Every Thursday we can have different side dishes, and for the winter time we will need to revise the recipe to be a proper Thor meaty feast!
Chariklo do you and EE approve? Mr Cedars does!!!!
If you do I’ll move on to cake!!!

Chariklo do you and EE approve? Mr Cedars does!!!!
To clarify, just like OUTLAW, I always approve of chicken. That has nothing to do with my feelings about Thor worship.

I just want to point out that blue cheese could be seen as regular cheese with blue freaking lightning shooting through it. You can't get much more Thorian than that. Unless of course, the cheese was also shaped like a hammer..
