    Carl Sagan on Watchtower Ethic

Today I added a new article to my blog. It shares scans from a book authored by Carl Sagan (deceased) where he took time to opine about the Watchtower organization’s ethic. He did not hold back.

My article is titled Carl Sagan on Watchtower Ethic and is available at:

That is one of my favourite pieces regarding Jehovah's Witnesses and really sums up the religion and followers.

Funny. . . my copy of The Time Is at Hand is the 1914 edition. It tells me that armageddon is coming in 1915!

I think Rutherford did something similar when 1925 didn't perform for him, he presented the possibility that the next year may see it all happen.

Eventually he admitted: " I made an ass of myself over 1925" some would say an arse of himself.

I love the Carl Sagan quote too, I have a huge file of stuff that may be useful in discussion with believing JW's at some stage, that quote went in some time ago.

Thanks for posting once again Marvin, lurkers and newbies will benefit.

    Eventually [Rutherford] admitted…

Rutherford surely made an ass of himself, and on more than one account. But he did admit his one asinine moment regarding his 1925 admission.

But not one Watchtower leader, including Rutherford, has ever been able to bring themselves to admit its asinine 1914 false prediction.

In a nutshell Watchtower’s response to its failure is to say the world did end in 1914 but only the faithful could see it.

Carl Sagan, bless his sweet heart, was smart enough to see the bull and kind enough to share his observation on printed page.
