I have a friend, who is compiling information. He is not a JW, but wife is. Looking for words, phrases, ideologies that JWs live and die by that are WT teachings, but not scriptural. Thought I would post it here, and see what the big thinkers could come up with.

"Bad associations spoil useful habits".
They say it means bad men can spoil a person's faith. I think it means a wrong (bad) understanding of scripture can ruin a person's search for truth.
I came to the conclusion when I found out that the word "association" can have the meaning of "communication".
It also makes more sense to me that "do not be misled" should be translated "do not be misleading"
6 The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap Galtsians 6:6,7
Someone teaching has more power to mislead than someone being taught. So I think Galatians 6:6 which uses the same word as
1 Corinthians 15:33 means he who teaches should take care not to deceive which means mislead.
To be misled is an unconscious power. It can't be considered sinning in my opinion. But to be misleading even if it is not purposeful is sinning, isn't it? And if it is sinning, then a warning would be sounded and has been. They didn't listen.
"Do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together" they say means God wants you at every meeting.

It begins at Hebrew 10:22 "we should approach" meaning together as a believing body spiritually approach the high priest (entering the holy by the blood of Iesou). So then later the writer would not switch to writing about the good habit of gathering together.
It coincides with 1 Corinthians 12:21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"
Do not forsake any part of the Body that appears in Revelation 14:1, I'm sure that is what it means. To be sure Hebrews 10:25 has a spiritual meaning.
Any "Class" mentioned by the Watchtower publications. The most notorious being the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" based on Matthew 24:42-46.
The term "Governing Body" as well as the concept of the Governing Body is not mentioned or supported by scripture.
Anything to do with the year 1914 is pure cult lunacy.
Jesus being impaled on an upright pole vs a cross is based on intentionally taking one Bible scholars writing out of context.
I forgot my all time favorite: the belief that the intentional killing of another human is always murder and makes one bloodguilty. Even if you are justified in protecting yourself or another.
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that anyone who has died before Jesus died will not be going to heaven.
They have a standard reply when you tell them JW is not the truth, they say the Bible says "Where else shall we go?" when in reality Peter says "To whom shall we go away to? You have words of eternal life." (John 6:68) which he says to and about Jesus, not about leaving the JW religion.
Baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Spirit directed organisation..
