firstly christ is a titlr it simple means anoited one wgich means leader. everyone who was a leader of some religious or other griup would have been called leader. the same goes for jesus which just means saviour another very appropriate title for someone who would save his ppl from the romans. the jews wanted a saviour of tht type the prob is jesus didnt do that. there are many messiahs in the bible, every king or priest was a messiah.

lastly give josephus family were high priests it stands to reason his vdry own dad would have told his historically interested son of a man who cured the sick, raised the dead et . josephus was born only four years after jesus death. the line you mention doesnt identify jesus of nazareth it simply saus chrestus. chrestus means something different from christ. look up the word on wiki. given all of jesus wonderous ministry how is it josephus only wrote down one line? how is it he didnt write up a gospel ?he wrote encyclopedias of the jews and their history...he wasnt shy of a good writeup.

"Chrestus" is suppose to have been forged by Christians in the second to third century in the writings of Josephous. Dr. Bart Ehrman addressed this issue last night(Sunday) Dr. Erhman did not attack Flavious, agreed Josephous mention of (Chrestus) was in fact, "Jesus of Nazareth". He did not agree with other critics that "Chrestus" was inserted (forgery) by Christians of the second or third century. Ehrman "Misqouting Jesus" author is a agnostic, not a Christian.

The debate still exists whether we can trust Josephous's written works, he is called "A Big Liar" "Gross Exaggerator" his historical credibility has been challenged by Jews, he contradicts the writings the Hebrew Bible in "Antiquities 4.8.48" compare (Deut 34:5,6).

I listened to one historian attack Flavious (It's been a few years ago) in his attempt to destroy the secular historian's mention of "Chrestus", his conclusion was "we should ignore most of his works, since Flavious was a poor record keeper, a blatant liar, he contradicted himself and (his summation) most likely became a follower of Jesus Christ"

We can ask the question,(It's just as plausible :) did Flavious steal the story of St. Paul from the followers of "Chrestus"? According to critics, he lacked fact checking, chronology, and "A Big Liar" as another scholar wrote. I do like this conspiracy! Again, what if Flavious stold St. Paul's story, he had access to St. Pauls letters, Luke's writings (Acts), it pure conjecture but it might grab a headline??!!!!
