I never did like this play with words. Could you imagine Jesus' sermon on the mount using a play on words to give his message.
Wikepedia does state that a Public Service, involves government administration. The members of JW's are not part of the government. They are neutral. It is a misleading statement.
Wouldn't passing out condoms also qualify as a public service?
The public service JWs provide is waking up lazy people Saturday mornings, thereby reducing widespread obesity.
Of course the WTS is providing a public service. By wasting your life and taking yor money they are saving good xians from spending money on dancing girls, horses and porno mags.

it could be also waking up lazy fat people and starting them on their quest for tonnage earlier than otherwise would have happened.
