Making it harder than it is? All that explanation does is makes the "a generation" lie all the more blatant. You don't have the generation involving 2 or more different generations, as that rubbish indicates. One generation--that is what it means. If you are going to use 1914 as a start point, it had better be those who were alive while 1914 was still on some point on the earth, and would see 1914. No fair extending it by putting another generation to tag along--any more than it would be fair for Jehovah to keep one person alive who saw 1914, keeping that person alive (albeit very sickly, frail, and in intense pain and suffering) for thousands of years just to keep this window open.

As for doing more, a person is best advised to do the amount at which point the total cost of doing just one more unit just starts to exceed the total actual benefit of doing that same unit. Doing less means giving up the excess benefit (the amount of benefit above and beyond the cost), while doing more means incurring too much cost for what it's worth. If they want people to do more, they can either ramp up the real benefit (making it worth a higher cost), lowering the cost and making a smaller benefit worthwhile), or both. Fake benefit is unfair, as is threatening people. If it turns out that the point where cost exceeds the benefit is at or below zero, the activity itself is not worth doing at all.

"What would you know about the bible if not for Gods Organisation?"........pompous arrogant asses.

Translation "You are dumb, we are not.........be grateful for the scraps we feed you"

Thanks for the outline of the Circuit Assembly, I wont be going!

Our CA is not til next month, I still get railroaded into going to all of them by my mother.

And I always find it so sad how it never changes, it's always about doing more, I always see thru it however everyone always says to me including my mother,

    'oh wasn't that soo encouraging!?'

Er no not really. Why is it they never encourage spending more time with your family, making sure that as the head of the house your wife is happy and kids are happy and well adjusted?

    Sad.

The "mature" brother says, "You're making it harder than it is. When Jesus used the term "generation," he EVIDENTLY meant the lives of those anointed living in 1914 would overlap with those anointed who would see the end." The "unsure" brother responds: "Oh, is that it? Well, that's not so hard."

Yep, same stuff I heard at my wife's assembly recently. I just thought, "These people will believe ANYTHING the Watchtower tells them." How sad.

The new generation teaching is not hard to understand.

You don't need to understand, you just need to believe.

Mind you, if a jw tried to explain that to me i would just ask for the proof of what jesus 'evidently' meant...from the bible. I think that would be the end of the discussion...

These kind of talks and demo's are a sure sign that apostates, porn and thinking are effecting the WT.

The internet is barely in its teens...

The first lot of kids raised by google are leaving, what will happen with those raised by facebook, youtube and iphones?...

This is 100% true. Now, having the family home computer located in the kitchen or living room so you know what your kids are looking at is an anachronism. That is why I think this generation of kids growing up on iPhones and iPads are going to get curious and start googling WT bullshit.

Anyone think of maybe creating a site directed at teens with doubts?

Ugh! Now I'm tempted to go when hubby goes, just so I can look him in the face and ask, "Now what was that all about?" He doens't like the push for more, more, more any more than anyone else. The generation thing will need to be mentally filed so I can ask him what his thoughts are. What a load of steaming crap!

    1 : in an evident manner :clearly, obviously <any style … so evidently bad or second-rate — T. S. Eliot> 2 : on the basis of available evidence <he was born…evidently in Texas — Robert Coughlan>

The "overlapping" generation is not obvious otherwise that would have been the definition from day 1 and I know of no evidence.
