When Jesus talked about remarriage after divorce, he didn't need to mention murderers or attempted murderers. Those that were these types of criminals were killed by the Romans, so one dead spouse could be easily replaced.

If you really want to take Jesus' words in Matthew literally, as the WT seems inclined to do, technically women have no rights to divocrce their husbands at all. Jesus only mentions men leaving their wives. Which would fit with the first century (and earlier) world, where women had no rights of their own and were not much more than property to be accquired.

So how come we never hear about that?

*** w88 11/1 p. 22 par. 11 When Marital Peace Is Threatened ***Extreme physical abuse is another basis for separation. Suppose an unbelieving mate often gets drunk, becomes enraged, and causes the believer physical harm. (Proverbs 23:29-35) Through prayer and by displaying the fruitage of Jehovah’s spirit, the believer may be able to prevent such outbursts and make the situation endurable. But if the point is reached where the health and life of the abused mate actually are in jeopardy, separation would be allowable Scripturally. Again, congregation elders should look into charges of physical abuse when two Christians are involved in the troubled marriage, and disfellowshipping action may have to be taken.—Compare Galatians 5:19-21; Titus 1:7.

Although this speaks of separation, a jw can divorce an abusive mate. But it is true that the WTS considers only adultery and death to break the marriage bond. Of course, under the Law of Moses an adulterer would have been put to death (unless you are King David).

Also Jesus and the other Jews were (still) under the Law of Moses which allowed Jewish men to divorce their wives for things other than adultery (which was a death sentence).

(Deuteronomy 24:1) “In case a man takes a woman and does make her his possession as a wife, it must also occur that if she should find no favor in his eyes because he has found something indecent on her part, he must also write out a certificate of divorce for her and put it in her hand and dismiss her from his house.

Bold is mine. Notice the abuser is an unbelieving mate. Watchtower rules are totally different when it's a jw who is the abuser.

Also... If you come home early one day and catch your wife having sex with another woman or the family pet, that is NOT Spiritual Grounds for Divorce either...

    Watchtower October 1, 1956 Page 591 paragraph 20:

Sodomy (or the unnatural intercourse of one male with another male as with a female), Lesbianism (or the homosexual relations between women), and bestiality (or the unnatural sexual relations by man or woman with an animal) are not Scriptural grounds for divorce. They are filthy, they are unclean, and God’s law to Israel condemned to death those committing such misdeeds, thus drastically putting these out of God’s congregation. But such acts are not adultery with the opposite sex, making the unclean person one flesh with another of the opposite sex. (Rom. 1:26-32) Yet there is a penalty of disfellowshiping attached to them.
