The org is holding everyone's family and friends hostage and they know it's effective. I know leaving causes great pain and you have to remake yourself I believe it's absolutely worth it. I believe that staying in when you know it's wrong is a slow and painful death and you give the org more power to do it to others. However, each will make their own decision and that's how it goes.

This made me think of Paul Simon's 50 ways to leave your lover. Just substitute WT for lover

"The problem is all inside your head she said to me

The answer is easy if you take it logically,

I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free

There must be 50 ways to leave your ...WT?....

......Just slip out the back, Jack,

    Make a new plan, Stan,

You don't need to be coy, Roy,

    Just get yourself free

    Hop on the bus Gus,

You don't need to dicuss much,

    Drop off the key, Lee,

    And get yourself free.

As with everything, it seems really difficult, so just do it!

(I tried to embed a Youtube video here but failed)

I recently (very) talked to a family of JW's who no longer believe any of it is true.

They simply pretend in order to maintain access to family.

A double life has become "normal".

They go about their lives except for that chain around the ankle.

    They celebrate the holidays.....quietly....secretly....surreptitiously.

The mother-in-law comes over on Christams morning and silently "witnesses" her grandchild opening presents...without participating, naturally, because she is an ACTIVE JW.

It is all so bizarre to me and so...so....commonplace to them.

The Jehovah's Witness religion is not what it appears to be. It contains a synechdoche.
