James, none of those things you list (or quote) are issues of a change of Catholic doctrine, just providential judgments or governance--both of which can change. The Catholic church could choose to allow priests to marry tomorrow, and it wouldn't be a doctrinal flip flop either.

Great, now some of our trolls are probably going to say that the generation overlap was just a "providential judgement" for the GB...

flip flop or new light? I think all religions have new light... not so sure about the flip flopping though.

Mormons - but not due to what truth-b-known said the location of the physical new Jerusalem hasn't changed.

Polygamy, not done, done, claimed not to be done but done in secret, not done.

Requirements for Celestial Kingdom, baptism, baptism plus polygamy, baptism plus Celestial Marriage plus Endowment

Racism, Africans fine, Africans less valiant, Africans fine.

God, god is a trinity, there are two gods, there are three gods, there are many gods

    to name a few...

It's not all about the "flip-flops" or changes in doctrine or policy, it's the way it's handled.

The WTBTS has a long history of denying, minimizing, outright lying and blame-shifting when it comes to these changes. Oh, and let's not forget you'll be disfellowshipped if you make an issue of any of this!

james- The problem the Society gets themselves into on Official Teachings is that they are all Official Teachings. Somehow they never picked up on the nuance of doctrinal levels like the Catholic Church did. Everything was always 'God speaks to the FDS' and now they are stuck with the embarrassment.

The really difficult question for the religions to answer who claim a sole handle on "The Truth", as do Mormons, and of course the WT/JW brand, is :

"When did "the truth" (the brand or religion) become the "Truth" ?

When they were teaching error, it could not have been "The Truth" , so the subsequent question "How can you be sure it is now ?" is a bit of aposer for 'em !
