Thanks for bumping. C.O. Jonsson is something of a hero of mine after reading about his treatise in Crisis of Conscience.

The recent WTS. article tries to uphold its doctrinal dates because to admit now that they made a mistake would jeopardize

their long positioned standing that god had chosen them as his earthly mouth piece.

70 years taken away from 539 BCE, the date of the Israelites were released from captivity, even ends up at 609 BCE.

The WTS doesn't want anybody stepping on their expressed bullshit, there is now is too much to lose to tell the obvious " Truth "

As long as they stick to their guns and they have a bunch brainwashed drones who believe in them and who are subservient to them

the bullshit gets protected and sustained.

Thats religion folks good old fashion bullshit presented with a loving smile.

As I've mentioned before many times the dates derived and calculated by the WTS. were derived out of commercial necessity and

    appeal to the public .

Vindicated. Jonsson likewise agrees that the JWs' Return Theory, that the 70 years ended in 537, is patently false. He also correctly observes that the 70 years most likely began in 609 at the fall of Assyria, the Dominant Babylonian Empire Theory.

He also subscribes to the theory that there was no king of Babylon to serve once Babylon fell in 539. JWs don't have 70 years and 1914 is a false date and false prophecy and their entire religion unravels. Christ did not return in 1914, the parousia has not yet begun. That is heresy. Smart man, that Jonsson.

Seems that the WTS has avoided the actual date of the destruction of the temple and governorship of Israel in 586 BCE.

Instead they try in focus on the start of captivity fiddling and loosely speculating on when the 70 years started and ended.

If Cyrus's degree was set out in the spring of 538 BCE, it was most likely that the held Isrealite captives returned in that year.

Again 70 years taken away from 538 BCE comes to 608 BCE.

I wouldn't be surprised that this 70 year prophecy was told after the fact and being that 7 is a sacred number to this particular ancient Scotti,

70 years was written to make it all seem like it was orchestrated by gods controlling hand.
