"No, it is not owing to

works, in order that no man should have

ground for boasting.” (Eph. 2:8, 9) What,

then, does it mean for Christians to enter

into God’s rest? Jehovah set aside the seventh

day—his rest day—in order to bring his

purpose respecting the earth to a glorious

fulfillment. We can enter into Jehovah’s rest

—or join him in his rest—by obediently working

in harmony with his advancing purpose as it is

revealed to us through his organization."

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! Good observation Blondie.

an elder explained it as follows: "You are on a bus, this pictures the Jews needing to obey the Law. But you need to get off that bus and transfer onto another bus, this pictures the Christians needing to stop observing the Law and going with the new Christian arrangement. Now if you did not transfer, then you would arrive at the wrong destination. Therefore you need to change buses when God's org changes directions."

    Let me guess....

There was a murmur of appreciation from the audience...

And afterward, that elder got at least 10 comments on how "deep" his comment was.

    Yeah, something's "deep" here....

"No, it is not owing to works, in order that no man should have ground for boasting.” (Eph. 2:8, 9) What, then, does it mean for Christians to enter into God’s

rest? Jehovah set aside the seventh day—his rest day—in order to bring his purpose respecting the earth to a glorious fulfillment. We can enter into Jehovah’s

rest —or join him in his rest—by obediently working in harmony with his advancing purpose as it is revealed to us through his organization."

In the old days they would have used the NWT euphemism, "by obediently exercising faith"...

Now they just say "by obediently working."

How many JWs do you think will notice the obvious contradiction?

Evidently, the writer didn't notice it himself...

Actually it will be good to check if this paragraph undergoes revision before it's loaded to the CD-ROM, because as it stands the paragraph effectively reads:

"It is not by works we enter into Jehovah's rest but by working..."

On the other hand, if we minimized the

Bible-based counsel that we receive through

the faithful and discreet slave class, [we are] choosing

to follow an independent course, [and therefore] we

would be placing ourselves at odds with

God’s unfolding purpose. This could endanger

    our peaceful relationship with Jehovah.

In the next article, we will consider a few

common situations that can affect God’s

people and discuss how the decisions we

make, whether to obey or to take an independent

course, can determine if we have

    truly entered into God’s rest.

Thanks Blondie. I always look forward to your level headed critique of this weeks slops from the WBT$ slop jockeys!

Par 5 Asks the question 'How long?' then proceeds not to answer it!

There are adverts to 'OBEY THE GB OR DIE' and 'DO MORE OR DIE' (see par 9 for eg), all over this dishing of slops.

17 On the other hand, if (‘What if’ propaganda technique) we minimized the

Bible-based (‘Appeal to authority’. Translation = WBT$ based, obey the GB) counsel that we receive through

the faithful and discreet slave class, (Utterly cringeworthy!!! ‘Mystical manipulation’, ‘appeal to authority’ OBEY YHR GB) choosing

to follow an independent course, (No independent thinking) we

would be placing ourselves at odds with

God’s unfolding (Don’t mention ‘new light™ here as that would mean ‘god’s purpose’ isn’t ‘unfolding’ it’s more like failed origami) purpose. (Appeal to fear. Appeal to authority) This could (Weasel word) endanger

our peaceful (Nicey nicey word used with ‘our’ or the ‘preacher’s we’ technique to make everyone feel part & responsible) relationship with Jehovah.

In the next article, we will consider a few

common situations that can (Weasel word) affect God’s

people (JWs by any chance?) and discuss how the decisions we (‘Preachers’ we’)

make, whether to obey or to take an independent

course, (Obey the GB. Appeal to fear. Implied ‘guilt by association’) can (weasel word) determine if we (Preachers’ we) have

    truly entered into God’s rest.

After all this I am still none the wiser.

    Is God resting or working?

after reading the context of the verses where Paul speaks about entering Jehovah's rest, it seems to me that in order to enter his rest we must leave the watchtower! The watchtower law code that is. We must look to Jesus for salvation, not try to work it out by selling books.

    My head hurts too!

Oh, how I remember the 1975 explanation, and then the 'Adam was 30' apology for getting the date wrong. Now, the Watchtower is spinning a new web to cover their tracks.

I hope this article is a wake up call to many JWs who are still in and can accurately remember the old teaching(s). I'm sure their heads are going to hurt too.

Perhaps we should pass out aspirin and whiskey after Sunday's service?

Skeeter - "I hope this article is a wake up call to many JWs..."

That'd be nice but the words 'Breath, not and holding' spring to mind.
