As we all know that Las Vegas is about gambling, but not everything is about gambling in Las Vegas, is there a way for the dubs to enjoy their vacation in Las Vegas without gambling?

I know many people who barely know JW's exist who go to Vegas and never gamble. There's lots to do there :)

There are a lot of shows to see in Vegas. I know some Witnesses who have gone there to see Celine Dion. And they usually have very nice hotel rooms for a low price.

I'm not into gambling, and well,Vegas doesn' t really appeal to me,more of a nature girl, but I'd go to Vegas to see a show. Garth Brooks was there for a bit.

dubs? I don't know about dubs, but there are othere attractions in Vegas besides gambling. It really depends on what you are looking for. There are plenty of shows to see ~Cirque shows such as the Beatles Love... comedy, a few 'old vegas' theme shows and plenty of others ..adult and otherwise. Concerts galore. Plenty of clubs (if you are into that sort of thing). A few museums~wax museum, Titanic, Bodies exhibit(not as sexy as it sounds.. its about the human body and how amazing the anatomy is), some art, a shark exhibit..

There is an arts district that is very much alive on every First Friday with lots of freestyle artists~paintings, dance, drum circles...it's where freaks like myself like to go..

    Ballet, indoor/out-door plays and concerts

There are spas to luxuriate, endless dining options, golf, shopping, Grand Canyon tours..

There are a few more quiet, not vegasy place to relax

One of my favorites is Red Rock Canyon for hiking, nature walks (not so much in the summer heat, though)~ some people bicycle, mountain climb. Desert beauty. I've seen some little funny go-cart looking things going by in groups (looks like rentals). Also Mount Charleston has plenty of hiking (great in summer). If you get the ski fever really bad, there is a resort Lee Canyon..right up with Mt Charleston.. in a pinch..

Funny, just returned from Vegas on the first leg of my honeymoon trip. My wife who has never been a JW doesn't gamble either. But together we tried one of the airport slot machines. I couldn't help thinking though how JWs and many religious people see Vegas solely for it's gambling. Yet we did the Strip, Hoover Dam, Red Rock anyon, Planes of Fame Museum, stargazing and the Grand Canyon. All are fairly accessible from Vegas.

When I was a dub, I planned a trip with 2 other dubs to go to Vegas. Unfortunately the trip had to be cancelled for unrelated reasons. We planned on seeing the shows. I remember we were particularly excited about Blue Man Group. We also had some Grand Canyon plans.

Entertainment capital of the world, Nascar races, the big rodeo once a year, Area 51 --- trying to think of what's not already been mentioned.

Vegas has more five star restaurants than any other place in the world along with famous chefs such as Wolfgang, Emeril, Bobby Faye --- many others who have leading (not 5 star) restaurants on strip and was rated no. 2 in the world for shopping following Rome. Heard there's some incredible room rates available on the strip these days and there's some unbelievable buffets (a/k/a stuff-its) and delis, bakeries, etc., in the hotels. Probably the best prices available on planet earth for real estate right now. Many people are picking up 2nd homes at rock bottom prices. used to have more morman wards than any other place in the world. cleveland clinic was considering opening in vegas.

What about the Dubs that live in Las Vegas? I'm sure they don't spend their spare time in casinos.

First time I visited LV was on a WT-organised coach tour. Before we got off the coach the coach captain (a Bethel elder) gave us a 5 minute surmon on the evils of Sin City.

Second time I visited LV was as an exJW and I met up with a bunch of other exJWs I met via another exJW board.

Both times, I didn't gamble a cent. It's not my nature to gamble. But I loved the place and I'd go back in a heartbeat. As the others have said, there's heaps of world-class entertainment to be enjoyed for those who don't gamble. I must add that here in Australia, gambling is an open thing and can be found in registered clubs so it's not a big deal for us to see poker machines and card tables.

We use to go with other Witness families to see certain shows and kick back by the pool.
