Ok, we're back to evolution. Proof is a concept in mathematics, not science. The theory of evolution best describes how the facts fit together, but unfortunately it has not been demonstrated under controlled conditions as a conclusive proof. If a group of scientists was to find the recipe for abiogeneis and watched and recorded as self-replicating proteins became something else - RNA? who knows? - and then something more sophisticated etc., there might then be a proof for evolution that none but the most ardent of creationists could not dismiss. From my perspective, I am already convinced. Others are saying it's all talk and if you want to convince me you need to show me.

Gotcha Nickolas...thanks. From my perspective I'm convinced as well, as much as that the earth revolves around the sun. And yes...sorry cantleave about the veering off topic.

"If you want to convince me then show me" usually comes from those who believe in god, how ironic is that !
Abiogenesis as it took place to start life on the fairly new Earth may be impossible to replicate now ,on Earth. But as has been said, some form of Abiogenesis may be attainable in a Lab. I am sure it will be soon, we are almost there.
Even this will not convince hard-line creationists. They are as impossible to convince as JW's are on any subject that conflicts with their baseless faith.

Unshackled - don't apologise, IMO Nick's angle is still on topic.
Wobble, It's not just JW's that need convincing, faith in mythology is still rife even among non-JW's. The guy at work he raised this, is bright inteiligent guy who surprised me by his statement. I recognised the symptoms of cognitive dissonance that I suffered from only a few years back.

A millionaire scientist who once ran as a Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate has just launched a $50,000 prize to promote research on the origin of life. - Yes, he has an ulterior motive: He hopes that researchers working on the question will eventually prove that life's origins can be fully explained by physical and chemical processes, without invoking a creator......
