How big is a demon?

Things which exist are real enough. We can measure them. They are just this big and no bigger or smaller.

TheY are here and not there.

Imaginary things have the luxury of being any size. They can be any place.

Which raises the question: How big is a demon?

Are they people size? It would not seem so. These creatures can occupy a human the way a tenant occupies an apartment!

How many people can fit in a phone booth? Just a certain number....depending on what size the people are. Phone booths are a standard size.

    CONSIDER:

Phone Booth Packing was a 1950's fad in which a bunch of people crammed themselves into a telephone booth. It became all the rage with college students in 1959. It even rose to a competitive level, pitting college against college. Due to the competitive edge, the question arose whether packing into a phone booth meant the whole body, half a body or just a part of a body. This question arose when a South African college said it had been able to fit twenty-five students into a booth made for one, setting a "world record" that has never been defeated.

So, how do we sqaure the following Bible account with any kind of reality?

    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”

“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.

11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

Gee, how fat was this demon possessed person? A lot bigger than a phone booth, I'd imagine!

Why do I ask this question?

    To bring REALITY into it.

Reality is real. Reality has actuality.

Everyday things which are invisible (data over a broadband connection) are quantifiable. We have phones with 4 G networks, don't we?

That is an actual thing. Quantifiable.

The speed of light is quantifiable.

The force of gravity is quantifiable (and invisible.)

    Newton's law of universal gravitation
About fifty years after Kepler announced the laws now named after him, Isaac Newton showed that every particle in the Universe attracts every other with a force which is proportional to the products of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of their separation.

    Hence:

If F is the force due to gravity, g the acceleration due to gravity, G the Universal Gravitational Constant (6.67x10-11 N.m2/kg2), m the mass and r the distance between two objects. Then

    F = G m1 m2 / r2

    My point?

Just this: when you bring to bear the force of reason and sanity to the subject of DEMONS the test of REALITY fails!

We are to believe that demons have the power of creation, for example! Only God has this power, presumably.

In the account in Genesis we find the "angels/demons" forsake heaven to have intercourse with human women! The physical body necessary

to accomplish this would require an act of creation. Sperm with working DNA would be required! Do these angel/demons KNOW the DNA code and how to hack it??

Sperm in testicles attached to males in working condition is an act of CREATION, is it not?

I won't get silly about this. The entire story falls apart when you ask sane and logical questions and expect a rational response.

    HOW BIG IS A DEMON?

Answer: as big as human imagination.

Did they use K-Y gel with Intense Arousal formula or just the standard stuff........

The size of a demon is as variable as that of an angel. Presumably. After all, in the Middle Ages a favourite pastime for scholars was to debate how many angels could stand on the head of a pin.

Speaking hypothetically, I don't think either type of being is subject to physical laws, so re4ality can't be brought into it since they belong to a realm outside reality.

    Supernaturally.

Nature is everything that exists. EVERYTHING.

    What is SUPER (beyond) NATURE?

It would mean more+additional to EVERYTHING.

See what happens to EVERYthing? It is tampered. You destroy a definition and make it self-contradictory.

Contradiction is the red flag for untruth.

    Truth = Reality.

    Reality does not contradict itself.

The SUPERNATURAL goes beyond everything that actually exists.

    To where? IMAGINATION.

You can do whatever you want with your imagination. But, please---don't tamper with reality.

Calling the imaginary real (or super-real) is just playing with words.

FACTS cannot be tampered without damaging the validity of your mind.

When you go from REAL to IMAGINARY and pretend the reality remains the same you've tampered your mind. It is damage. It distorts thinking.

Or maybe they just don't exist. I like to keep it simple.

    Simple works for me.

How many encounters with Satan do we find in the Old Testament?

Even the infamous days of Noah Nephilum account says "sons of god" and is an INTERPRETATION into angels/demons.

Many postulate it is leftover from the "Book of Enoch."

In the garden we find a "serpent". We are persuaded to reason backward from the purported words of Jesus conveniently identifying the Original serpent as Satan. "That one was a manslayer from the beginning."

The world in Jesus' day was filled with superstition.

    Jinn in the pre-Islamic era
Amongst archaeologists dealing with ancient Middle Eastern cultures, any spirit lesser than angels is often referred to as a jinni, especially when describing stone carvings or other forms of art.

Inscriptions found in Northwestern Arabia seem to indicate the worship of jinn, or at least their tributary status. For instance, an inscription from Beth Fasi'el near Palmyra pays tribute to the "Jinnaye", the "good and rewarding gods".[5]

In the following verse, the Qur’an rejects the worship of jinn and stresses that only God should be worshiped:

"Yet they make the jinn equals with Allah, though Allah did create the jinn; and they falsely, having no knowledge, attribute to Him sons and daughters. Praise and glory be to Him! (for He is) above what they attribute to Him!" (Qur’an 6:100)

Types of jinn include the shay?an, the ghul, the marid, the ‘ifrit, and the jinn. According to the information in the Arabian Nights, ‘ifrits seem to be the strongest form of jinn, followed by marids, and then the rest of the jinn forms. (wikipedia)

A lot of cultures liked to draw them in human form with a few animal characteristics thrown in for good scary effect. The Watchtower books were pretty good at scaring kids with demons.

Perhaps the original definition needs to be looked at, after all it was written by men who may not have been familiar with the "technology" at use. This is no different than going back in time 10,000 years with something as simple as a Bic lighter - you would be the "God of Fire" for which an entire mythos would spring forth. Lets say that the "demons" or "angels" of past times were nothing more than a race of peoples, who had good and bad among them. They had the technology to jump in and out of dimensions. They had the technology to read minds, or control peoples thoughts. Stories would appear, but "less" the technological aspects as primative man could not comprehend it. Its not even that far fetched as the things mentioned are being explored today. This is nothing more than the case of the Spaniards arriving in the new world and the natives believing they were gods and orally communicating how man/beast creatures existed - horse and rider, because they had NEVER seen a horse before. Its much the same way as the word "computer", for which many cultures do not have a word for in their language and simply use "computer" in their own tongue.

Gee, how fat was this demon possessed person?

Now that is the funniest thing I've heard all day! All week, in fact! ROFL!!

A demon must be small enough to fit inside an Ouija board. So that guy had to be fat enough to equal at least 2,000 Ouija boards, because those are always possessed.

I looked it up and a Ouija boards are 1.5' x 1' but are flat. So if you stack 2,000 Ouija boards, that would work out to be much bigger than a fat guy.

Perhaps demons can compress themselves at will, like I Dream of Jeannie, the genies could be tiny when in the bottle and regular sized when out.
