  I get some of that Sab. Militant anything is usually too far off the path to have much positive effect.

  But, I have to question the premise then - if your god is not based on Biblical 'truth', then what? You cannot just conjure up a god's personality from thin-air can you?

  If you begin to cast off the very Writ upon which your god is formulated by de-literalizing the bible for instance [a more and more popular form of Christianity it seems], then upon what do you create this god? If you are permitted to make every uncomfortable part of your holy writings 'figurative' or 'allegorical' or 'metaphorical' is it not just excuses? The bible is so obviously flawed, if not an outright fraud, that doing the above is the only escape hatch - but in so doing, how can you fail to recognize that you are denying the very Deity created from Jewish lore that you reverence? And why would you want to 're-create' god in your modern image, and praise that younger generation who is embracing such a new god? For in so doing, you are indeed not far off from those who brandish the FSM - are you? Well, in only one point - those who pretend to worship the FSM, know better! They are only TIC, whilst the 'new Christians' are fully committed to their god - but not to one now anchored in the OT/NT, but now to a 'new and improved' god.

  Would it not make far better sense to throw off entirely this god based on the Bible and just openly admit that your god will be created based on what is politically acceptable in our time? At least that would be honest. But reformulating god so that his blood-lust/foolish/hateful ways are just ancient literary failures is a cop out IMO.

  Here is the formula as I see it:

  OT God was horrible. NT Savior is beautiful, but he worships and demands that all worship the OT God, his Father. [Or alternately he IS the OT god remade as savior]. Either way, that makes the son and the father sharers in horror/evil, as mentioned above.

  My opinion and a buck will buy you a coffee and not much else. But for me - there can be no salvation in serving the son - when the son adores this evil monster of the past.
