The Menlo Park saga is another in a long line of Kingdom Halls in predominantly black communities that have been sold since this practice started a couple of years ago. According to elders that I know ALL over the country "black" Kingdom Halls are often the ones slated for sale in a geographic area while the "white ones" are renovated and kept. The WTS pockets all the money and the beat goes on. This is the first case I know of where the elders said in affect, "go to hell."

The WTS does not like to be told no so they react the only way they know how...the use of intimidation. Do what we say or be deleted, disfellowshipped and have your reputation ruined among the the JWs.

Racism and intimidation...are these these the fruits of the love that identifies the true christian congregation?

In New England they foiled a CO's attempt to merge and sell a congregation's KH in a very interesting way according to a sister there when I stayed with her last year...

This is what took place in North Central Massachusets when CO Scott Henry went on a consolidation spree around the Mass Circuit, one congregation, North Adams was to be merged and their KH sold, they'd been holding on and knew the CO's assignment was going to end in a few months, just about everyone in the KH didn't want to merge as it would mean a long trek to the newer KH of the neighboring congregation, the plans progressed and the building was put on the market, unfortunately, when the hall wasn't in use it seems that several bathroom fixtures were stuck, running non-stop, at the same time and flushed and flowed continuously and the septic tank couldn't keep up, so... The property couldn't be sold under such conditions. The local brothers rented a couple of portapotties and went back to having meetings there. (It was actually fun, although smelly, to wait outside in line and chit-chat with other sisters in the long potty line on Sundays. After CO Henry moved on the plans were scrapped and the building remodeled with local help. Apparently, the whipper-snapper of a CO's attitude stunk more than the soggy lawn of the property. He's now in Maine from what I hear, and had been recalled to Patterson for more training after his foiled attempt to get this one last congregation merged and KH sold. I'm not sure of all the details and if there's someone here who is from Mass. maybe they know more, but it sure could serve as a lesson to any Elder Body on how to foil an impetuous CO's schemes.

I've heard so many contradictory stories about the Watchtower letter referred to in this thread and am confused big time. Someone suggested it was a bogus letter. Can anyone confirm it is a genuine letter from the Watchtower Society? Thanks.

When I read examples like this , it just reinforces my understanding that the WTBTS is just a corporate entity masquerading as a religion. Their sole purpose is to get gullible people (sadly me included) to pay for & distribute their religious literature & recruit more sales staff in a kind of pyramid scheme.

So much for "we aren't your leaders." If they aren't , how can they accuse people of " insubordination "!

They seem to specialise in these kind of land grabs - something similar is happening in Spain where they are selling the Bethel that was purchased by the donations from the Spanish brothers. Money to go to the "worldwide work".

Property is expensive. It took the WTS decades to acquire all the property and KHs they currently own. At the rate they're going all of the best, most valuable properties will be gone and along with it the revenue stream they generated.

Once the property is gone what will they sell next - their soul? Nah, they've done that.

Yes. At leas the federal court that is handling the case has accepted it as evidence and nothing in the defense's documentation is denying that any of the plaintiff's paperwork is fradulent.

If the Borg attorney isn't denying it is legitimate and the court is accepting it as legitimate and the former elders are saying it is legitimate and entering it as part of their evidence packet, what possible reason could one have for saying it is NOT real?

This stuff is ALL PUBLIC record with links to the data in this very thread. Who suggested it was a bogus letter?

Thanks to Mad Sweeney and others for summarizing this complex situation. Whatever the outcome, these men are finished, aren't they? You cannot take an organization to the courts if you have any notion that they are the Earthly part of Gods great Universal Organization....

Perhaps we will see them on here one day soon?

As soon as the court case is over they'll be DFd. I have no doubt about it.

Mad from what I am reading, thanks to you and others who have explained the issues involved, the case will not be about freedom of religion but about California corporate law. The only standing anyone has are those named on the corporate papers that are on file. If they win the WTBTS will have to reinstate them since the court will have found that they acted honestly and in the best interests of their congregation. If they win and the WTBTS has them DFd then the next case may be about civil rights or the Whistelblowers law or about intimidation. The WTBTS has provided enought rope to hang themselves.

If they have a legal fund I would be happy to contribute to it.
