How often do Bethel dismiss Bethelites? Can you give us some examples of dismissals from Bethel?

All the time.... And i mean ALL the time

My Personal favorite was a guy who got sent home (dismissed) for reading commic books. Not "bad" stuff, i mean xmen and superman. Sent home. For reading commics. And when u get sent home they give a talk at breakfast a.k.a morning worship as to why. The talk was about, and i quote, "being desensitized as to uglyness". Clearly thats scriptural.....

Yeah EE is right. Back in the day one of our friends served in Walkhill. Well he enjoyed pioneering A LOT. From middle school - high school he regular pioneered and always met or exceeded the hour requirement. He would go out in service anytime, anywhere, and with anyone. He was always used on assembly/convention parts and was appointed elder really young. A lot of the adults just fawned all over him. Most of us teens knew he was off though.

He got accepted to Bethel and completely went off the deep end. He continued pioneering from Bethel. He was told he was better suited for the ministry and was sent packing. Well the poor thing never fully recovered and completely left "the truth".

The sad thing is that in the WTBS's eye, it's HIS fault. Doesn't the Bible say something about "God not being so unrightous as to forget the insane amout of work you did for Him the WTBS?"

Single men would regularly be dismissed for getting drunk in public. This was extremely common, but there is no public announcement of a 'dismissal', unless the person is DF'd. So, the only dismissals you know about are the ones that spread via word-of-mouth. Some stories were accurate, others were embellished/distorted.

Some of my Bindery friends were dismissed for getting drunk. The guys told us this.

Young, newer Bethelites are easily replaced. They can be dismissed with no great loss to Bethel. If you screw up in even minor ways during your first 10 months, you may not pass your 10-Month Review, and therefore you must leave once you complete one year. Others are dimissed before they serve one year.

You can be dismissed for a variety of offenses that don't necessarily involve a Judicial Committe or disfellowshipping offenses, including (but not limited to):

    • having a bad attitude
    • adult entertainment
    • "self-abuse"
    • averaging more than one sick day per month, during a single Service Year
    • sport-related injury requiring expensive medical treatment
    • breaking an engagement
    • getting too flirty with members of the opposite sex (less than pornea or uncleanness)
    • missing too many congregation meetings
    • not following OSHA and safety guidelines on the job
    • being lazy on the job

    The list goes on.

Let me just clarify what leavingwt said... It is true that no annoucment is made when someone leaves or is sent home with the exception of a df'ing.. That would be a lot of annoucments all the time... However when someone was sent home and there was some notiriety a talk was given, like the case with the commics.... That was in mid 93/94 so i susspect you were there leaving, and i know cult classics husband was because he and i worked with the guy i am referancing.... These talks during morning worship or after family study were equlivant to local needs

Absolutely. If the Morning Worship program was about an 'issue' or 'problem', you pretty much knew that someone had been canned for the offense being spoken of.

Keep in mind that none of this was done in a spirit of love. They wanted punishment and they wanted to scare family.

Jeez! It's crazy how you have to walk on eggshells just to meet the requirements of this cult! All those ridiculous rules and regulations that suppress human nature just to remain in that disgusting beth-hell mess.

I've never been to beth-hell, but they were known for acting crazy at parties due to being so suppressed for the rest of the week.

I heard of of beth-hellites getting booted out for waking up late.....not that you can blame them considering they have to wake up at ridiculously early times every morning and partake in heavy indoctrination before the day even starts.

I know of one beth-hellite who loved some beth-hell booty and got two "sisters" pregnant around the same time. Obviously they didn't let him remain for much longer lol.
