No Governing Body in 1925

Thank you Jnat for the imformative links. This is a good topic VM44 and one that needs to be revisted on a regular basis. The F&DS is the authority by which the GB always refers back to in order to show that the GB is merely a servant of the collective slave body. It's just more WT folklore gussied up to look like real scriptual dogma. Knock out the GB/F&DS link and you have killed the beast.

But remember: The Annual meeting article does not claim there WAS a GB back in '25, the quote goes:

"From 1919 on, there has always been a small group of anointed Christians at the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They have supervised our worldwide preaching work and have been directly involved in preparing and dispensing spiritual food. In recent years, that group has been closely identified with the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The evidence points to the following conclusion: “The faithful and discreet slave” was appointed over Jesus’ domestics in 1919. That slave is the small, composite group of anointed brothers serving at world headquarters during Christ’s presence who are directly involved in preparing and dispensing spiritual food. When this group work together as the Governing Body, they act as “the faithful and discreet slave.”"

So there has been a group, and in later years, that group has been identified with the GB. It does not say there was a GB right from the beginning, or that there was a GB constituting the slave.

The ususal writing from the WT. They know how the R&F will interpret those words in their mind, as a constant group of anointed from 1919 who fed the spiritual food to the rest.

The reality is Rutherford was a meglomaniacal dictator who didn't listen to the input of others. I think even he admits that from 1931 he was the sole provider of spiritual food. There certainly was no Editorial Committee in the 1930's and up until his death.

After Da Judge had drunk himself to death Knorr would have been inclined to delegate the writing mainly to Freddie Franz, but some assistance from others was no doubt sought. Even in these early days of Knorrs tenure there was nothing like the GB presented in those words above.

    The WT are barefaced liars.
