Taking Back the Payment for Sins?

So, how do we know what "God" says versus what the NWT says?

God's word is the New Testament. I have devoted an entire website to the question of what is the NT

I did this the day after I was born again. Your story reminded me of this.

I'm so glad God loves emotionally high strung folks too!

    Prodigal Son,

The watchtowers NWT has more than 200 deliberate changes to the bible text, especially in the New Testament. These changes are in there to hide the divinity of Jesus Christ and to keep the Witnesses enslaved to the Watchtower Organization.

If any witnesses out there have the Greek Interlinear Translation of scripture, they should compare that with the NWT new testament and they will see all the changes the writers of the NWT made.

When I learned this, I literally felt like I was kicked in the stomache. I was so angry, I cried for two days knowing I was duped. I felt so foolish.

At that time I knew why we were always told to get a NWT bible into peoples hands right away when they agree to a bible study. Its not because it is easier to read, its because it is an effective brainwashing tool. Many people believe if they read it in the bible, it must be true.

Yes, this book is evil and is the most effective brainwashing tool the WT society has. And was designed to be as such, Lilly

Nice website Perry. Reminds me of one just like it that I used to have. I thought our salvation depended upon finding the proper translation and the "true meaning" of Hebrew and Greek words and terms. Then one day, it hit me just what Jesus meant when he said, "You are searching the scriptures, because you think that by means of them you will find everlasting life."

Really, if God inspired the Bible and intended for us to have it today as he gave it, he would have prevented the scribes, priests, revisionists, church fathers, popes, etc. from, redacting, altering and interpolating it to death. The New World Translation is just another falsified version of a falsified version of a falsified version. The "All Scripture Inspired" Book says that the NWT was not only based on Westcott and Hort's "textual criticism", but was also based on the versions of Jesuit scholars. Since the Catholic Church gave us the New Testament in the first place, what is the difference if they give us a further modified version?

The Bible changes as needed by the priesthood that invented it.

It's my understanding that the WTS teaches that Jesus couldn't have been resurrected in a physical body because that would be taking back the payment made by the ransom sacrifice.

I have seen that understanding posted here, as well, but in over four decades of Borg membership I don't recall it ever being mentioned in a book, magazine, or from the platform. I think it's an urban legend, not a Watchtower teaching.

lovelylil, four years ago I posted a long and voluminous article that I wrote dealing with all the changes to the Bible and I focused a lot on Westcott and Hort. They were Theosophists, and I am well aware of what they did. The majority of the changes were to promote a two-class theology, reduce the importance of baptism, sin, salvation, etc. It was designed to fit better with an ecumenical One-World-Religion, the idea of many Saviors, and reduce the focus on Jesus of Nazareth. In a sense, it was actually a move toward the real truth: Everyone can be "saved", not just Christians.

If you go back to the first page of the topics I started, it was called "The Two Bibles", and it was more or less a "King James Only" type thread. Frankly, I'm quite embarrassed at what an idiot I was, but its all part of spiritual growth, so I forgive myself.

You are living proof of the power of words. You read a Westcott & Hort scripture that made it appear that Jesus was mocking people for searching the scriptures and bada bing - no more biblical faith. Nice.

    Here's what Jesus actually said:

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life."

I know a lot of my Christian brothers and sisters disagree with my stand on the Textus Receptus. And, I certainly do not want to make this an issue that divides; but not withstanding I parade before all of you - Prodical Son as Exibit A

A few of Prodical Son's recent thoughts:

These stories were never meant to be read literally. These gospels with a Jewish guy from 2,000 years ago taking center stage in every single idea,

The Christ is not a man, it is an energy within you that you can access

Therefore, that is what Orthodox Christianity is all about and it is the main reason for what turned out to be the Dark Age of Pisces. It could have been different.

Just as the Christ is within you, so is the Antichrist.

Another victim of the Alexandrian spell.

    Now back to the topic.

According to their twisted logic, Jesus received the wages of sin for us. Thus, if we survive Armageddon, we are not getting "paid" for our sins. And, if we are resurrected, we are giving Jesus the "payment" back for our sins. Jesus took the "payment" for these sins.

However, it is all crap. As I see it, Jesus did not pay for our sins, nor did he accept the "payment" (which is death) for sins. He tried saving us from Jehovah--and died trying. No "wage", no "price"--just another failed attempt to liberate mankind from tyranny.

    WT Wizard,

Actually they try to have it both ways. While they preach against universalism (the belief that everyone will be saved) out of one corner of their mouth; when pressed about how their sins could possibly be forgiven outside of the New Covenant (testament), they run for cover by claiming that Jesus died for everyone out of the other corner of their mouth!

    Slippery little heretics they are.
