Can anyone please help me to find the link to the church that changed or reviewed its doctrines. I remember seeing a documentary somewhere.

    Many thanks

I remember reading something about that group in one of Ray Franz's books. The leader died and the people who took over basically admitted they had been led astray and would from now on drop the "heavy-hand" treatment of members.

It was the Worldwide Church of God, a cult similar to the Watchtower Society circa. "Judge" Rutherford.

Watch the documentary on my blog, if you want.

If you investigate further, you'll discover that dozens (if not hundreds) of splinter groups came into existence when the headquarters reformed their theology. One of my coworkers is a member of a splinter group. He adheres to the original (Armstrong) teachings. They believe the headquarters is now run by "apostates", but that God will restore the true teachings, etc. They strictly observe the Sabbath and they adhere to OT food guidelines. They are non-evangelical, as their theology gives everyone a second chance. The most bizarre doctrine (to me) is the belief that they will ALL become God at some point in the future. (Since Armstrong's death, they have eased up on their anti-medicine stance. Visiting a doctor is no longer frowned upon like in the past.)

As with the JWs, the social aspects of the religion are what keep many in it, IMHO.

You can Google "Armstrongites" to learn more about this group. There is a significant "apostate" presence online for the group.

Worldwide Church of God--published the magazine Plain Truth--Leader Herbert W. Armstrong

They basically split into several parts--there is one part that still maintains all the original beliefs headed up by Robert Meredith.

That is really helpful and fast!!!

We were once both elders, in fact the friend this link is for conducted our wedding at the kh.

Totally glad to be out and loving life. We were discussng whether an organization could survive deep doctrinal change. From the example it appears as a yes and no answer.

It appears as if Rutherford, from the grave, will continue to keep this organization under his control until a split occurs. Who will get to keep all the money if such a split happens?

Armstong SR was actually sued years ago for copying WT articles for printing in Plain Truth.

This is my first time hearing of this. Are there any Internet references/articles with details?
