Cold steel: Clearly the Jah-figure seems to be based on the pagan depictions of the Greek god Zeus.

Jove was the Roman version of Zeus. I suspect the WT god 'Jehovah' originated here as Jove was always spitting out thunderbolts, too.

I find it interesting that the Temple of Jove was taken over by Catholicism and now sports pictures of Jesus on its columns. Looks like one religion may have merged and culminated in another.

Zeus was worshipped during the first century (Temple of Jupiter). Maybe that was the origin of 1st century "Jehovah's".

Frescos of the Crucifixion, Chiesa di San Giovenale, Orvieto

The church of Saint Giovenale (possibly named after the temple to Jove it replaced, or perhaps after a bishop of Narni) dates to 1004. It has a large number of fine frescoes dating from the 13th/14th centuries.

The column fresco depicts the Crucifixion with the Mourning Virgin and Saint John (not visible).
