...I went to a gathering a few weeks ago (a luncheon for some pioneer sisters). We had turkey burgers, salad, fruit salad, etc. One of the sister (an eighteen year old sister) and me were having a conversation (I'm not a pioneer by the way, and I wasnt going out in field service, just visiting, I live down the street from this sisters house). She told me that she never wants to have kids because she doesnt want them to get destroyed. In my mind, I was speechless, but on the outside, and I just smiled and told her if thats whats best for you.

Why does she think they'll be destroyed?

Some things are shocking but it shows how the young process the Message that get drummed in at the Meetings. I was watching the Film Seven years In Tibet and the Chinese Communist takeover along with the indoctrination of Marxist/Mao propaganda. I takes a strong mind to resist and think through that type of environment, some do look at the resistence at Tenimin Square.

Your young friend will have many opportunities to reassess her views about life and family. Let's wish her all the best. She will have great support should she ever begin the questioning part of her journey.

I remember my mother rabbiting on about the young ones in our congregation getting married and having children so close to the end. Woe to the suckling babe etc..

That was 50 years ago. She denies saying that now.

I'm sure I was the result of a broken condom. For those two, Armageddon was their OCD long before I was born and still is.

One of my kids has decided to wait for Paradise to have kids. At least I don't have to worry about their kids being raised in a cult. They are hardliners, so it wouldn't be pretty.
